At Parents Magazine, we believe that it is important to provide children with the opportunity to participate in performing arts activities to enhance their learning and development. Research conducted by the University of Maryland (2007) shows that children who engage in activities like acting or music lessons experience positive outcomes in school, emotional development, and family life. Furthermore, the research proves that these activities have a major role in cognitive, motor, language, and social emotional development.
We understand that parents are always looking for ways to help their children reach their full potential, and we believe that participation in the performing arts is a great way to do that. Studies suggest that engaging in activities like acting and music lessons can help children to develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. These activities can also reduce obesity, guard against osteoporosis, improve posture and muscle strength and increase fitness generally.
