Dani H11/02/20225What a wonderful habitat it is! My husband and I spent a fantastic morning on the boardwalk because we are both biologists, enthusiastic birders, and native plant nerds. This ecosystem is unique to our state and cannot be found elsewhere! We observed blooming salt marsh mallow and square-stemmed wild salt and pepper flowers. And let's not even mention the scarlet hibiscus! Just stunning!
Mark S11/02/20223.75Today was my first visit, and I enjoyed the boardwalk tour through the former Bald cypress swamp. This morning there wasn't much wildlife activity, so I focused on the trees, plants, and flowers. Incredible variety. It is very challenging to capture the magnificence of old growth Bald Cypress trees in a photograph. One of those places that you simply must visit is this one.
Stephen S11/02/20225What a wonderful day! Wonderful people who are ready to assist you. Excellent road maps and guides. Take your binoculars! For the walk, bring water. Walking, listening, and resting at the rest stops can take hours. 2.25 miles, but the memories will last a lot longer.

I observed numerous birds, alligators (including babies! ), racoons, and plants. directional signs with information. Was a fantastic day!
Jeff B11/02/20225It's a great place to unwind for a few hours. The various habitats are fascinating, and I can see how they would change significantly with the seasons. The range of birds was amazing. It was amazing to watch the storks and ibises catch fish. Alligators were another animal we saw. You can enjoy nature without being overly disturbed by people because it isn't too crowded.
