About Everglades National Park in Homestead, FL

The National Park Service has been dedicated to preserving our nation's special places since 1916. With the support of volunteers and partners, we are able to protect these treasured places and share their stories with over 318 million visitors every year. Our mission doesn't stop there, however. We are honored that tribes, local governments, nonprofits, businesses, and individuals frequently ask us to help them restore their communities, protect local history, and create family friendly outdoor activities. Junior Ranger

The NPS Junior Ranger program is an activity based program conducted in almost all parks, and some Junior Ranger programs are national. Many national parks offer young visitors the opportunity to join the National Park Service "family" as Junior Rangers. Interested youth complete a series of activities during a park visit, share their answers with a park ranger, and receive an official Junior Ranger patch and Junior Ranger certificate. Junior Rangers are typically between the ages of 5 to 13, although people of all ages can participate.
