About Newark Day Nursery and Children's Center in Newark, DE
Established in 1961, the Newark Day Nursery and Children's Center initially served just five children. Since then, it has grown exponentially, now caring for 180 children on a daily basis. This impressive growth is the result of a vision conceived by a few citizen-activists who saw the pressing need for working families to have access to both high quality and affordable child care.
Over the years, there have been several significant milestones that have helped shape the center and its mission. One such achievement was being accepted as a United Way of Delaware agency. The center has also received numerous national accreditations, signifying its dedication to maintaining the highest standards in child care. Additionally, the acquisition of a 5-acre facility for expansion demonstrates their commitment to serving as many children as possible. Their tireless efforts have led to thousands of children receiving quality care and education.
Today, the center's mission remains the same as that of the original visionaries: "NDNCC is dedicated to providing the highest quality early childhood and school age services to educate, enrich, and inspire children and youth from culturally and economically diverse families." This statement underscores their commitment to promoting diversity, inclusivity, and top-notch care and education for children of all backgrounds.
