Once upon a time, in the small but mighty state of Delaware, an army of bright-eyed, bushy-tailed kids gathered to participate in the most exciting activity under the sun: reading! Our tiny state, tucked between New Jersey and Maryland, might be small on the map, but when it comes to book lovers, we’re larger than life! Our hero in this great adventure is a cool, unlikely character named Del-Readeroo, who is half kangaroo, half bookworm. With round glasses perched on his snout, a funky hat on his head, and an enormous pouch filled with colorful books, Del-Readeroo hops his way around our state, spreading the joy of reading. Every day, he hops from Wilmington to Dover, from Newark to Lewes, and every small town and big city in between, inspiring Delaware's kids to embark on magical reading adventures. With the flip of a page, the children could be fighting pirates in the Caribbean, exploring the Amazon rainforest, or even dancing on Saturn's rings! Del-Readeroo is always there, cheering them on with his passion for books and funny jokes. Like, why don't bookworms ever play hide and seek? Because they're always spotted in the library! Or, what's a kangaroo's favorite book? 'Hop on Pop' by Dr. Seuss! So, in the charming state of Delaware, reading isn't just an activity; it's a grand adventure, a wild ride, a journey into worlds unknown. All thanks to our cool, funny pal, Del-Readeroo, and the reading-loving kids who make Delaware the greatest little state for big imaginations!

DEBUT Creative Center & Theater-Studio is a dual-language (English–Russian) program where kids explore creativity, confidence, and self-expression. From theater and dance to fencing and stage performance, children can try new activities and discover their unique talents. Small class sizes let instructors give each child personalized attention, helping them feel comfortable, supported, and confident as they learn. Kids build artistic skills while also developing social confidence, teamwork, and poise on stage and in everyday life. Our programs celebrate each child’s individuality, combining fun, hands-on experiences with a focus on personal growth—all while keeping Russian language and culture an important part of the curriculum.
Established in 1961, the Newark Day Nursery and Children's Center initially served just five children. Since then, it has grown exponentially, now caring for 180 children on a daily basis. This impressive growth is the result of a vision conceived by a few citizen-activists who saw the pressing need for working families to have access to both high quality and affordable child care. Over the years, there have been several significant milestones that have helped shape the center and its mission. One such achievement was being accepted as a United Way of Delaware agency. The center has also received numerous national accreditations, signifying its dedication to maintaining the highest standards in child care. Additionally, the acquisition of a 5-acre facility for expansion demonstrates their commitment to serving as many children as possible. Their tireless efforts have led to thousands of children receiving quality care and education. Today, the center's mission remains the same as that of the original visionaries: "NDNCC is dedicated to providing the highest quality early childhood and school age services to educate, enrich, and inspire children and youth from culturally and economically diverse families."
