About USA Gymnastics in Watertown, CT

USA Gymnastics is the national governing body for the sport in the United States and is recognized by the U.S. Olympic Committee and the International Gymnastics Federation. Women's Elite/TOPs Program

An elite athlete in the Women’s Program is defined as any international-level gymnast who starts the first Optional event at a Classic competition is considered an Elite gymnast and may not drop back to the Development Program in the same Elite competitive year. The Elite Program is designed to provide competitive experiences for athletes aspiring to be on the National Team. The National Teams (Senior and Junior) are selected from the US Championships each year. These athletes represent the United States in international competitions.

Men's Elite Program

An elite athlete in the Men’s Program is defined as any athlete who qualifies to compete in the junior or senior division at the Winter Cup and/or U.S. Gymnastics Championships on an annual basis. The Elite Program at USA Gymnastics has two competitive level components - a Junior Division and a Senior Division. An athlete must be 12 to 18 years of age to compete as a Junior Elite and must be at least 16 years of age to participate internationally as a Senior Elite.

An elite athlete in the Rhythmic Program is defined as any athlete (Junior, Senior, and Hopes) who has qualified to the elite competition at USA Gymnastics Championships in any year.

ACROBATIC GYMNASTICS

An elite athlete in the Acro Program is defined as any athlete competing in the Elite Program (11-16 Age Group, Junior Elite 12-18, Junior Elite 13-19 and Senior Elite) in either women’s or men’s pair, mixed pair, or women’s or men’s group.
