FIBER ARTS WORKSHOP: ALL LEVELS

Overcome the mystery of sewing and discover how fun and easy it can be. Learn the basics of machine sewing, including how to thread the machine and other basic operations. Practice sewing lines and going backward before moving on to simple pieces for gift-giving. Choice of projects includes a four-patch pin cushion, quilt blocks, or a lined purse or bag. You’ll be speeding along in no time. Feel free to bring your own machine or we use the ones on hand.

YOUNG PEOPLE WORKSHOP: 4 - 6

This workshop will introduce young artists to winter celebrations from other cultures. In particular, Kwanzaa, Las Posadas (Mexico), Chinese New Year, Hanukkah, St. Lucia (Sweden), Diwali (India), and Christmas. Inspiration will be derived by the paper cut-out work of Matisse. Students will create symbolic images in their art and make a holiday wreath.

Design and create your own unique mosaic pendants using a variety of glass, stone, ceramic and other materials. Get experience in the skills of precision cutting, artistic laying techniques, and then how to adhere to a pre-made silver-plated bezel using specialized adhesives.
