About Carriage Barn Arts Center in New Canaan, CT

The New Canaan Society for the Arts, Inc. has a mission to promote the visual and performing arts for the enrichment of the community. The Carriage Barn Arts Center is the venue for this mission, hosting eight premier art exhibitions annually along with four major juried events. Invited artists and talented high school students are showcased in curated exhibitions. Additionally, the Barn sponsors “Art in the Windows” which places art in retail shops in New Canaan for the public to enjoy. The Carriage Barn Arts Center is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday and entrance is free with a suggested donation. The New Canaan Society for the Arts, Inc. is dedicated to fostering an appreciation of the visual and performing arts through educational and cultural experiences. The Carriage Barn Arts Center is the place to find premier art exhibitions, juried events, and curated exhibitions featuring invited artists and talented high school students. Furthermore, the annual “Art in the Windows” event is a great way to get out and explore the local retail stores and see the impressive art displays. The Carriage Barn Arts Center is open from 10 am – 3 pm, Wednesday – Saturday, and 1 – 5 pm on Sundays. There is no charge to enter the gallery and all exhibitions are open to the public.

YOGA AND SOUND BATH SERIES

Join us Saturday mornings for an exciting new wellness collaboration between Carriage Barn and Grounded Meditation. This Gentle Yoga and Sound Bath series will engage both body and mind to help melt away the stresses of the week and start your weekend right! After a brief opening meditation, we’ll stretch and loosen up with a gentle yoga practice, accompanied by the soft sounds of Crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, chimes, gongs, drums and more. You’ll then sink into an extended Savasana like no other while you become immersed in the magical sounds of the healing instruments, creating vibrational energy to lull you into a deeply relaxed, meditative state.

AFTER SCHOOL ART ADVENTURES

Enjoy afternoon artistic adventures at the Carriage Barn Arts Center with instructor Tiffany McKay! Each week participants will use different skills and materials to create and complete a one-of-a-kind project. Classes will work with materials such as paint, paper-maché, edible and natural items, and more.

AFTER SCHOOL DRAWING SERIES

Students in grades 7-12 are welcome to join this drawing and sketching class at the Carriage Barn, led by teacher and artist Vanessa Curri. Work on a different still life composition in pencil/charcoals each week using newsprint technique. Sessions are accessible for all skill levels and no experience is necessary. Come learn and work with others in a relaxed and supportive environment.
