At the Greenwich Audubon Center, we strive to connect people to nature and foster a lifelong appreciation for the environment. Our goal is to empower individuals to become informed conservationists, taking ownership of their role in preserving and restoring nature. We focus on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats in order to raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity and the need for conservation.

Our center has been in operation since 1943, and we offer a variety of educational programs and activities for children, adults, and families. We also host community events and field trips, as well as guided bird walks and bird banding. Our 686-acre sanctuary provides a unique opportunity to observe birds in their natural habitats, and our knowledgeable staff and volunteers are always eager to share their enthusiasm and expertise. Exciting, age-specific, tracks of programming and camp themes based on the unique elements of nature as the summer progresses. Check back here for more information as we finalize our plans for making this the best summer ever!Our camp days are filled with a variety of activities—including hiking, pond and stream exploration, crafts, nature-themed games, live animal interactions, and birding. 

Summer Nature Day Camp 

Guided school and youth group field trips at Greenwich Audubon Center emphasize student participation, first-hand experiences in the field, and inquiry-based learning methods. School group programs are coordinated with local curriculum objectives and the National Science Education Standards. We offer short programs and extended day programs, which can include an after-lunch workshop to explore and learn naturally through hands-on activities and the exploration of the plants and animals of the pond, forest, and field habitats along our outdoor trail.

School & Youth Group Programs

Community Science involves everyday individuals or groups volunteering to help scientists with their research, advance scientific knowledge, and solve real-world problems, particularly in the area of conservation.  Just about anyone can be a Community Scientist—no formal science background is necessary. All it takes is an interest in nature and conservation, a little bit of training, and the willingness to volunteer some time. It is open to adults, and high school students motivate younger children of all skill levels, and is a great way to learn more about birds and other wildlife. Most importantly, Community Science contributes meaningful, real-time trend data to Audubon and research scientists on the health of birds, other wildlife, and their habitats.

A lovely picnic with easy trails winding through nature. Birds can be heard clearly here. You can easily walk for about 2-3 miles if you include all of the different trail paths. The lake was beautiful with lotuses blooming!!

This place is a hidden gem! Nice, well-kept trails for beginning to intermediate hikers. A lovely large pond. There are many bird watchers and it is a great place for families.

A lovely hike around a lake. Very nice trail for hikers of all ages, mostly straight path with some rocks in the path but definitely doable for first-timers. There are a few other trails besides the one by the lake, and there's even an open field perfect for photos!
