About Purring Pottery

Purring Pottery is the creative child of potter and cat lover, Hanna Emory. The journey began with one small apartment kitchen/studio and a mischievous kitty named Mischief. Hanna's living space quickly became home to clay paw prints and vessels that were hand-paw and fur stamped. Now located in Colchester, CT, Hanna's studio is filled with the same healing energies and good vibes that it was when it all began. All of Purring Pottery is wheel thrown and hand-built by Hanna and her team. As a commitment to creating beautiful and safe pieces, all glazes are non-toxic, lead-free, microwave and dishwasher safe. With each piece, Hanna brings the same enthusiasm and love for her craft and her cats that she did all those years ago.

Kids Wheel Throwing
Beginner students will learn the basics of wheel throwing, how to use the tools and the rules of the pottery studio. Intermediate students, one or more classes and can center clay on their own, will start increasing the amount of clay per piece using shaping techniques. Advanced students will learn to use tools to make lidded vessels, closed forms, and advanced trimming techniques.
