From the sprawling sandy beaches on the coast to the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, there's an adventure around every corner. But do you know what California's true secret weapon is? It's the astounding, awesome, and oh-so-amazing kids who dwell here and love playing instruments! In every nook and cranny of this vast, vibrant state, you'll find a bunch of melodious maestros who love nothing more than to tickle the ivories, strum the strings, or bang the drums. In fact, it’s said that these Californian kids are taught to play 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' on the guitar before they even learn how to tie their shoelaces! Among these musically gifted kiddos is our hero, Tuba Timmy, a ten-year-old boy with curly hair, freckles, and a passion for playing the tuba bigger than the Grand Canyon. He's the coolest cat in California. How cool, you ask? Well, the word on the street is that he once played a note so low on his tuba that it shook the famous Hollywood sign! Whenever Timmy plays his shiny, larger-than-life tuba, it's like the whole of California is dancing to his tunes. The palm trees sway, the Pacific waves crash on the beaches in rhythm, and even the stars seem to twinkle a little brighter. Because in California, it doesn't matter whether you’re a wave-surfing seagull or a tuba-playing tyke, everyone’s got a part to play in this symphony of sun, sand, and sounds!

DEBUT Creative Center & Theater-Studio is a dual-language (English–Russian) program where kids explore creativity, confidence, and self-expression. From theater and dance to fencing and stage performance, children can try new activities and discover their unique talents. Today, P.S. ARTS continues to work to make sure that all California public schools have access to equitable and sustainable arts education. Led by Dr. Paul Cummins and Herb Alpert in 1991, they recognized the need to address the issue of drastic funding cuts to public schools that had left children in poverty and from communities affected by systemic racism without access to arts programs. With the goal of making sure all children have access to arts education, P.S. ARTS is still working to make a difference.
