About Kid Gloves Boxing in Simi Valley, CA

In the mid-1950s, Harvard professor Frankie Goodman founded Kid Gloves, a program that taught children of all ages. From four-year-olds to street-wise teens, Goodman taught his students the importance of a healthy mind and body, and gave them respect for themselves and each other. He even had a gym in Van Nuys, California, where he trained professionals, including the great Cassius Clay, later known as Muhammed Ali. Tragically, Frankie passed away, but he left the Kid Gloves trademark and exclusive rights to the Kid Gloves philosophy to Robert Ortiz. Robert started Kid Gloves Boxing in his backyard in Simi Valley, California, in the 1990s. To help disadvantaged youth, he started the Kid Gloves Foundation in November of 1997. Located in Center Court at the Simi Town Center, the foundation offers troubled youth the chance to experience success and gives them choices when they are most vulnerable to the pressures of the street. Today, the Kid Gloves Boxing Foundation continues to carry on the legacy of Frankie Goodman, offering a safe and supportive environment for kids to learn the importance of respect and healthy living. It is a testament to the founder’s commitment to giving back to the community.
