Stage 7 is one of San Diego’s best-respected and oldest dance schools, and has been a leader in the industry since 1973. With various classes such as ballet, jazz, and Afro-Cuban dance, and workshops in other disciplines, Stage 7 is the perfect place to come and learn to dance for fun, for fitness, or for professional preparation. Its excellence in technical training also supports work in cutting-edge contemporary work. The school has moved from downtown to North Park, and more recently to Kearney Mesa, and has launched its new Children’s Program. This program is designed to meet the developmental and creative needs of children from the age of 4 ½. At Stage 7, you can come and enjoy the joy of dancing, enhance your fitness, and get professional preparation. With its expertise in technical training and its Children’s Program, Stage 7 is the perfect place to take your first steps into the world of dance.

Summer Program

Stage 7’s annual Summer Symposium is a series of classes and rehearsals in June and July that culminate in theater performances at City College Theater. Dances are created by the faculty to showcase students’ technical and artistic achievements. Students are welcome to audition original works for inclusion in the program. Some of the works are based on class work in ballet, jazz, modern, flamenco, etc., while others are creative blends of diverse influences. The symposium performance is given full technical support of lighting and sound design by professionals.
