About SDPL University Heights Branch Library in San Diego, CA

For over a century, the University Heights Library has been providing a unique and cozy oasis to the people of San Diego. The library first opened its doors in 1914, however, it wasn’t until 1926 that a permanent structure was built. This was replaced yet again in 1966 with the current two-story building. At 3,749 square feet, the mid-century modern design of the library provides an inviting atmosphere combined with floor-to-ceiling windows. The University Heights Library is a cornerstone of its community, offering a unique and special collection of LGBT books and materials. It is a place of acceptance and learning for all members of its community, and a place to relax and enjoy the modern mid-century design of the building. The library has been open for more than a century and continues to be a beloved part of the cityscape of San Diego.
