About San Diego Civic Dance Association
For more than 75 years, San Diego Civic Dance Arts has been introducing the citizens of San Diego to the art of dance. Since it was founded in 1942, the program has been celebrated as a model for other city-wide dance programs across the country. As part of the City's Park and Recreation Department, San Diego Civic Dance Arts offers affordable classes at 22 Recreation Centers in the area as well as several dance facilities in Balboa Park.
At San Diego Civic Dance Arts, students of all ages and abilities are able to take part in a wide selection of classes. These include tap, jazz, ballet, modern, musical theater, creative movement, hip hop, and Hawaiian, with close to 3,000 students currently enrolled. Thanks to the City of San Diego's fee waiver program, the program ensures that anyone who wishes to dance in San Diego is able to do so.
San Diego Civic Dance Arts is a high quality and accessible program that has seen hundreds of thousands of citizens benefit from its classes over the years. Beginner PreBallet
Civic Dance Arts Beginner PreBallet is a fun and engaging class designed to introduce your young child to the basics of ballet dance. Students will learn how to warm up, execute steps traveling across the floor, and learn basic ballet combinations to music. Ballet shoes and proper dance attire are required.
T-Troupe
Our junior company that you must audition for by taking an 8 week workshop in March which culminates in auditions in early May. Advanced level tap and jazz skills and teacher approval are required
Young Adult Ensemble
A dance company that you must audition for by taking a 9 week workshop in March which culminates in an audition in early May. Advanced level tap and jazz skills and teacher approval are required.
