About Marina Outrigger in Marina del Rey, CA

At MDROCC, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the sport of outrigger canoe paddling. Founded in 1967 by Steve Kekuewa and Sandy Kahanamoku (nephew of the late and great Duke Kahanamoku), our non-profit, private organization is dedicated to giving people from all walks of life this chance. We are managed by a volunteer Board of Directors and supported by membership fees and donations. All donations are tax deductible and go directly to our programs, so you can feel confident that your contribution will make a difference. We believe that outrigger canoe paddling is a unique and rewarding experience that can bring people together in a special way. That’s why we are committed to making sure everyone has access to it. We offer a variety of programs and activities for all ages and abilities, so you can find something that fits your needs. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned paddler, we have something for you. At MDROCC, we strive to create a safe and fun environment for everyone to enjoy outrigger canoe paddling. ​ Keiki (ages 8-14)

​Keiki (ages 8-14)are invited to come spend their summer at the beach and discover new ways to: Stay active through Hawaiian-style outrigger canoe paddling.; Train and compete with their peers.; Experience Hawaiian language and culture.; Participate in community service. and Learn responsibility, leadership and safety skills.

Juniors (ages 16-19)

Through our Juniors program, teens learn about outrigger paddling technique and fundamentals, ocean safety, nutrition, overall fitness and Hawaiian culture. Our Juniors program focuses on outrigger paddling techniques and fundamentals, ocean safety, nutrition and overall fitness - preparing them for the competitive race season and to eventually paddle on the Open teams.
