About Debbie Allen Dance Academy

At the Debbie Allen Dance Academy (DADA), the world-class team of staff and faculty are dedicated to enriching, inspiring and transforming the lives of the disenfranchised Black and Latino communities through dance, theater and performance. DADA believes that the arts are key to cultivating discipline, creativity, and self-confidence, which are essential life skills that will benefit students regardless of whether they pursue a career in the performing arts. The principles on which DADA is founded, are meant to last a lifetime. With a focus on these core values, the Academy works diligently to create meaningful experiences for their students that will remain with them long after they have left the Academy’s doors. DADA’s highly trained and experienced faculty and staff are passionate about giving their students the tools they need to become successful and empowered individuals. Through dance, theater and performance, students learn to express themselves artistically, while gaining invaluable life skills that will serve them well regardless of their future career paths.

EARLY BIRDS

Designed to inspire children between ages 3 and 7, our Early Birds program provides essential foundational skills in dance through technique, musical exercises, teamwork and play. Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, African and Flamenco dance techniques are explored through the course of the school year. No previous dance experience is required. Based on their skill level students will be placed in either Pre-Early Bird, Early Bird I, Early Bird II, or Early Bird III.

RED BIRD

Hand selected by Ms. Allen, the Red Bird Program allows the dedicated student to increase their focus on technique and artistry through a rigorous curriculum centered on Classical Ballet and Modern Dance. Other technique studies include African, Dunham, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, and Latin Fusion.

SONS OF DADA

The Debbie Allen Dance Academy is proud to offer Sons of DADA our signature scholarship program for young male dancers. Students enrolled in the program receive training in Ballet, African, Hip Hop, Tap, and Modern. This program is open to male students between the ages of 8 and 18. An audition is required for admission to the program.
