Alabama, the Cotton State, is a magical land found smack-dab in the southern heart of America. It's like a secret garden, with its towering oak trees, whispering willows, and hummingbird-filled honeysuckle bushes. But the most mystical part of Alabama is its glistening, fish-filled waters. The place is bubbling with rivers, lakes, and ponds, making it the perfect place for a little angling! Now, if you take a closer look, you'll find a group of Alabama kids, known as the "Fish-Whisperers". This isn't your ordinary gang of youngsters, oh no! These kids are professional fish-catchers, skilled in the ancient art of fishing. They can summon fish with a mere flick of their wrists and a wiggle of their fingers. Their secret? They speak the fish language! Leading the Fish-Whisperers is Captain Bubbles, an 11-year-old with a beard made entirely of water bubbles. He's a legend amongst fishes; some say he was raised by a school of bass! He wears a hat woven from seaweed, and his fishing line is a rainbow-colored snake named Slither. When Captain Bubbles and Slither cast their line, every fish in Alabama trembles with excitement, lining up to be the chosen one. The most amusing part is when they get a bite. The kids dance a 'fish jig', jiggling and wiggling, just like the fish at the end of the line. It's a sight to behold! However, here's the twist. The Fish-Whisperers, led by their great Captain Bubbles, always release their fishy friends back into the water. Why, you ask? Well, they're in it for the tales, not the tails! Their fishing adventures are all about the thrill of the chase, the whoops of joy, and the splashes of laughter. In Alabama, it's always a reel good time!

At camp, boys come together for an experience of camaraderie and learning, as they work and play side by side. Freed from the fear of failing, they can explore and try new activities, discovering special talents and interests they never knew they had. Whether they’re competing in a tribe challenge, going on an overnight camp trip, or playing a game of spy in the dark, boys are encouraged to cooperate, follow, and lead, while learning more about themselves and others. Camp is a time of adventure, creativity, and excitement, as boys learn by doing and build strong friendships. With the support and encouragement of their fellow campers, they can take risks and gain new skills, while having a great time. For 60 years, Alabama WMU has provided camping experiences for girls at Shocco Springs and Cook Springs. In 1990, due to an increasing number of campers, WMU purchased a 344-acre camp at Cook Springs, east of Birmingham. This camp was renamed WorldSong Missions Place in order to reflect our mission and ministry purpose as stated in Psalm 96:1,3: "Sing to the Lord, all the world...Tell of His glory among the nations. At WorldSong Missions Place, girls have the opportunity to grow in their faith and make lasting friendships while having fun in the great outdoors. Through a variety of activities such as swimming, ziplining, canoeing, and arts and crafts, campers learn about teamwork, leadership, and resilience, as well as develop a closer relationship with God.
