Camp Seale Harris, founded in 1949 and administered by the 501(c)(3) organization SDES, is dedicated to providing a safe and fun camping experience for children and teens with diabetes. As a founding member of the Diabetes Education and Camping Association and an accredited member of the American Camp Association, Camp Seale Harris meets over 300 standards for health, safety, and program quality. With trained counselors and medical staff on-site, campers can learn and practice independence in managing their diabetes and making healthy decisions. Camps also feature a variety of fun activities and provide family-oriented recreation programs throughout the year. Camp Seale Harris is a place of understanding and support for children and teens living with diabetes.
Held in Birmingham, Dothan, Huntsville, Mobile, and Tuscaloosa, programs include swimming, sports, games, and crafts. One sibling/friend may also register and pay to attend. Mobile Day Camp provides bus transportation from select locations.

Family Camps
Parents gain valuable quality time with medical professionals while children enjoy separate, supervised activities such as boating, zip lining, and crafts. Campers enjoy family group fun and networking with families and volunteers who live with diabetes. Each family has their own lodge with adequate heating and cooling.
