ALLE Fencing Club specializes in saber fencing and welcomes students from beginners discovering the sport for the first time to experienced young athletes preparing for regional and national competitions. Youth beginner classes introduce children ages 6–12 to the fundamentals of fencing, including saber handling, footwork, distance control, fencing etiquette, sportsmanship, coordination, focus, and basic rules. Junior programs are available for ages 12+ and help students progress toward competitive fencing. Since 1973, the Sitka Fine Arts Camp (SFAC) has been providing Alaskan youth with a unique opportunity to explore the arts. With many remote communities in the state, young people often have limited or no access to quality arts programs. It is SFAC’s mission to provide these youth with the chance to gain exposure and training in the arts. SFAC has grown into a program of national recognition, with over one thousand students attending annually from Alaska and beyond. Young people are now able to interact with professional artists and gain a greater appreciation for the arts.
