Despite his fearsome name, he is as soft as marshmallows and as warm as hot cocoa. Captain Snowbeard knows every nook and cranny of Alaska, from the tip of its highest peak, Mount Denali, to the deepest cavern in the frost-kissed glaciers. Every morning, Captain Snowbeard and his gang of giggly children begin their hiking adventure. They march, skip, hop, and even tumble down the trails, their laughter echoing through the valleys. They race with playful snow hares, play hide-and-seek with cheeky Arctic foxes, and have snowball fights with penguins who aren't great at throwing but are terrific at sliding. Although the Alaskan terrain is tough and wild, these little hikers, wrapped in their rainbow-colored parkas and woolly mittens, fear no cold. They are as brave as the mighty grizzly bears and as agile as the swift salmon. Their spirits light up the Alaskan wilderness, showing everyone that no mountain is too high, and no trail is too icy when you have fun-loving friends, a heart full of adventure, and a yeti guide with a fluffy snow beard!

In the 1940s, a vision was born to create a place where people could come and experience God in a beautiful, mountainous setting. With the purchase of the original 80 acres in Alaska, the dream of establishing Victory Bible Camp was set in motion. Before Alaska was a state, bills had to be introduced in the U.S. Congress to make the purchase possible. Eventually, in 1947, Victory Bible Camp was officially founded and the legacy began. Today, Victory Bible Camp has grown to encompass over 400 acres in the valley between the Talkeetna and Chugach mountain ranges. The campus also provides facilities to accommodate up to 300 visitors, allowing many people to come and experience the beauty of God’s creation in Alaska. Victory Bible Camp has been providing a place for people to come and experience God in the Alaskan wilderness for over 70 years. What started as a vision to purchase 80 acres in Alaska has grown into a 400 acre campus. This amazing camp has stood the test of time, and continues to be a place of spiritual and natural beauty for young and old alike.
At our program, we’ve designed a unique curriculum that incorporates both environmental science and outdoor skills. Our curriculum is tailored to the developmental needs of children of various ages, and is also based on the time of year and the location. For instance, when our Wolf Pups, our youngest group, are learning about photosynthesis and food planning for trips, we might have them look at leaves with microscopes, tell stories about energy, and talk about food prep. As our participants get older, our lessons become more difficult and varied, incorporating a leadership component. We provide our teens with the knowledge and then give them the opportunity to teach their peers what they’ve learned. This is a great way for them to build confidence and gain valuable teaching skills. We believe that our program is a great way for children and teens to explore their interests in environmental science and outdoor skills all while having fun. Our carefully crafted curriculum engages participants in a meaningful way, so that they walk away with a deeper understanding of the topics.

Located in Wasilla, Alaska, LaVerne Griffin Camp is blessed to be situated on 58 acres next to the 125 acre Kalmbach Lake. The lake is fully stocked with rainbow trout and silver salmon, and the camp’s rolling terrain and large birch trees make it a peaceful and picturesque retreat. On top of this, visitors are treated to breathtaking sunsets across the lake. We offer a variety of camps and retreats for children, youth, and adults, as well as mission trip opportunities all year round. LaVerne Griffin Camp is overseen by the Chugach Baptist Association and is supported by the Alaska Baptist Convention, which shares similar beliefs and doctrine with the camp. The camp is grateful for the financial support of the Cooperative Program, which is funded by Baptist churches. We are thankful for the churches’ commitment to our ministry and are excited for what the future holds.
At Camp Li-Wa, we encourage each camper to become a part of the Li-Wa family. These programs include outdoor adventure camps that explore interior Alaska, CHA certified horsemanship camps, and a Servant and Leadership Training (SALT) program for those aged 14-18. In the fall and spring, the heated arena is the ideal place for horse riding lessons for children ages 9 and up. At Camp Li-Wa, the goal is to provide an environment where campers can explore the presence of God and discover their purpose and potential. We strive to make each camper feel like part of the Li-Wa family and provide them with an unforgettable summer experience. Youth today are so often stuck in front of screens and have no idea what opportunities may be out there in the world. Globe Creek Camp helps to break them out of this bubble and give them the chance to explore and discover what life has to offer outside of the normal routine. Through group recreation and activities, youth can learn to be courageous and overcome challenges that they may not have been able to face alone. At Globe Creek Camp, we provide a safe and nurturing environment for our youth to explore and grow. We strive to provide the best outdoor experience possible, and hope that our youth will leave camp with a new found confidence and strength.
