At our program, we’ve designed a unique curriculum that incorporates both environmental science and outdoor skills. Our curriculum is tailored to the developmental needs of children of various ages, and is also based on the time of year and the location. For instance, when our Wolf Pups, our youngest group, are learning about photosynthesis and food planning for trips, we might have them look at leaves with microscopes, tell stories about energy, and talk about food prep.
As our participants get older, our lessons become more difficult and varied, incorporating a leadership component. We provide our teens with the knowledge and then give them the opportunity to teach their peers what they’ve learned. This is a great way for them to build confidence and gain valuable teaching skills.
We believe that our program is a great way for children and teens to explore their interests in environmental science and outdoor skills all while having fun. Our carefully crafted curriculum engages participants in a meaningful way, so that they walk away with a deeper understanding of the topics.

The Little Wolf Pups, ages 5-6
Into the Woods Alaska’s Wolf Pups program is for our preschool explorers ages 5-6 and is aimed at developing an early love for nature and the foundations to be a successful and safe outdoor adventurer. Through play-based and hands-on learning, exploring the woods, art, imagination play, and long siestas reading and telling adventure stories at our campsite in the middle of the day, our preschool kiddos get to spend all day outside in a safe, nurturing environment in which they can follow their own curiosity about the world around them through up-close looks into the science and magic of nature.

Young Outdoor Explorers, ages 7-9
Wake up, go to camp, play outside with friends all day, go home tired, sleep, repeat! Our young outdoor explorers are an exciting age group to work with – they are full of energy, flourishing independence, a zest for playing with friends and not missing any chances to show off their skills to their peers and adults. We meet our young outdoor explorers at their level, and then give them chances to challenge themselves and learn new skills.

AK Youth Outdoor Leadership, ages 13-15
This program is designed to help young teens cultivate a sense of leadership, confidence, and a life-long love of our world’s wild space. Youth will level up from topics learned in earlier programs; knowledge, skills, and abilities will be explored at a higher level, and participants are held to a more rigorous standard of behavior, leadership, teamwork, and learning expectations. In this program, teens will have leadership opportunities with their peers, where they learn how to articulate conversations about safety, respect, responsibility, and teamwork in the outdoors setting.
