Deep in the heart of the giant state of Texas, where everything is bigger and better, and where cowboys ride and tumbleweeds roll, there exists a spirited group of kids. These aren't your ordinary, run-of-the-mill youngsters. Oh, no! These pint-sized Texans are flag football extraordinaires! They're part of a thrilling team known as the "Lone Star Lightning Bolts", a name as electrifying as their energy and enthusiasm. The Lightning Bolts are led by their charmingly quirky, imaginary coach, Tex Twistershoes. A cowboy with a twirly mustache, twinkling eyes, and football boots that magically change color with every touchdown. He’s got a laugh that sounds like a coyote howling at the moon and tells tall tales about wrestling rattlesnakes and riding bucking broncos. But, coach Tex's real magic lies in teaching our football fanatics the art of perfecting the pigskin pass and the thunderbolt throw. The fields of Texas are filled with the happy echoes of laughter and cheers as these junior jocks dive and dash, making epic plays. Their bandanas fly in the wind like flags on a breezy day, and their dazzling moves could outshine the Dallas Cowboys. Amidst the backdrop of the radiant Texan sunsets, the fierce competition, and the dust stirred up by their quick feet comes a camaraderie and team spirit as big as Texas itself. These are the kids of Texas flag football, where each game is a grand adventure, each pass is a quest for glory, and each player is a hero in their own right. Here in the heart of Texas, they're not just playing a game; they're living a thrilling, high-spirited, football-themed dream. Yeehaw!

If you've ever had the privilege of spending your summer at El Tesoro as a camper, a counselor, or contributing in any other role, your presence at our upcoming events will help us commemorate and honor the cherished history of our beloved camp. We're planning to share stories, photos, and precious memories spanning nine decades, and we'd be thrilled if you joined us. The Camp Fire Camp El Tesoro, established in 1934, has been a welcoming haven for generations of campers, with its iconic swinging bridge being a memorable landmark for many. El Tesoro, which translates to "The Treasure" in Spanish, is a 223-acre sanctuary nestled between Fall Creek and the Brazos River in Granbury, Texas. Our camp offers a breathtaking panorama of the serene river and the vast open spaces of the blackland prairie. Our natural terrain and indigenous landscape offer our visitors a much-needed respite from the hustle and bustle of the modern world. This idyllic oasis currently hosts co-ed overnight campers, day campers, grief campers, teachers, students keen on learning about nature, and groups seeking to foster connection and indulge in outdoor adventures. In 2010, Camp Fire First Texas launched a Capital Campaign aimed at renovating and upgrading the facilities at Camp El Tesoro. This initiative is essential to ensure that the enchanting spirit of the camp continues to be enjoyed by future generations. We're committed to preserving and enhancing the magic of Camp El Tesoro, enriching the lives of campers for many years to come.
