Yes, we're talking about the fearless, fun-loving, flipper-footed kids who plunge into the world of swimming. Our story stars Bobby "The Bubble" McGee, a pint-sized swimmer with a heart as vast as the Atlantic Ocean. With his neon-green goggles, a swim cap that looks like a purple octopus, and a toothy grin that could outshine the Statue of Liberty, Bobby is the unofficial mayor of the kiddie pools. He's not the fastest or the most graceful swimmer, but boy does he make a splash! Across the state, from the chilly dips in Lake George to the backstrokers in Brooklyn, the kids of New York are all part of Bobby's big splash brigade. They dive into the water with determination thicker than a New York pizza, slicing through the water like a knife through cream cheese on a bagel. Every kick, every stroke, every breath is a declaration of their love for the sport. Through the lens of the Hubble Bubble Telescope (a fancy name for Bobby's goggles), you'll see kids floating, splashing, and giggling, turning the pools into their playground. So, the next time you hear a splash in New York, know that it's likely another member of Bobby's brigade, adding their own splash of magic to the swimming scene. As they say in the Big Apple, "If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere!" even in the deep end.

Nestled in 178 acres of lush woodland is a serene escape from the city, a place fondly known as Camp Swamp. This overnight Christian camp, located just two hours east of bustling Atlanta, has been serving as a peaceful retreat since 1992. We like to think of it as our own "little slice of heaven," offering a respite from the daily hustle and bustle, and inviting people to reconnect with nature and their spirituality. Our primary offering is a week-long summer camp, but we've expanded over the years to include more than just summer fun. As part of our mission to support families and churches, we now also host three family camps throughout the year, as well as four parent/child retreats. These events offer a chance for families to bond, parents to connect with their children, and individuals to grow in their faith. Moreover, our facilities are not exclusive to our organized events. Camp Swamp also offers rentals to schools, churches, universities, sports teams, and even business groups. Whether you're planning a camp, a retreat, or a team-building excursion, our serene setting and well-equipped facilities provide the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable experience.
We are thrilled to introduce Kara Hallett as the new Camp Director at 4-H Camp Owahta! Hailing from Warren Center, Pennsylvania, Kara fondly remembers the summers she spent attending camps at El Rancho de Paz (now Mapleridge Ranch) and Montrose Bible Conference. One of Kara's favorite memories from camp is playing four square with her two older sisters in the gym. She was so excited for her first year at camp that she even fell asleep on the gym floor! We are confident that Kara will bring her enthusiasm and dedication to 4-H Camp Owahta, and we are excited to have her join the camp's leadership team. We can't wait to see what amazing experiences she will create for the campers this year!
