New York, a state as colorful and lively as a well-used paint palette, sparkles on the canvas of the United States. It's not just skyscrapers and hot dog stands - it has a heart full of nature, with green mountains and glittering lakes, where the deer and the chipmunks play hide and seek. And, the kids in New York, oh boy! They're artists with the spirit of Picasso and creativity of Van Gogh, and a dash of New York energy.

Right in the middle of all this hustle and bustle, you'll find a hoppity-skippity fellow named Doodle the Art Squirrel. Doodle, with his vibrant tail that changes colors like a chameleon, is the creative guide for our young New Yorker artists. Sporting a beret and a twirly mustache, he hops from tree to tree, rooftop to rooftop, carrying his bag of magic art supplies. 

He visits kids who love to dabble in art and crafts, helping them create masterpieces beyond their wildest dreams. He adds a touch of color here, a sprinkle of glitter there, and voila! Each craft is a unique creation. Doodle is also known for his comic antics that make every art session as fun as a roller coaster ride. He might accidentally dip his tail in the paint and end up creating an abstract art piece on the floor, or maybe he'll glue googly eyes on his beret without realizing. 

Oh, the laughter and the fun these New York kids have with Doodle! They play, they paint, they explore, and their imaginations run wilder than a New York minute. Their artwork is as vibrant and diverse as the state they live in - a splatter of colors and a splash of joy.

What began in a humble New York City apartment with just a single student, Spark, has since blossomed into an enriching program impacting thousands of children. Our unique educational approach combines the elements of art, yoga, meditation, and nature to create a holistic learning environment. This distinctive blend is what sets Spark apart, allowing us to reach and inspire a multitude of children in truly meaningful ways.

With an array of offerings to accommodate various schedules and needs, Spark has something for everyone. Our services extend beyond the standard after school and weekend classes to include holiday and summer camps, birthday parties, portfolio preparation, private classes, and custom pods. We also welcome homeschool groups and are thrilled to announce the recent addition of a forest school program to our repertoire.

You can find Spark on-site in various schools and at our main studio located in the Upper West Side. But we're not stopping there - we're also planning to expand to the Upper East Side and Brooklyn. For our families in Pennsylvania, we run the program from our family studio there. And if you're not in close proximity to any of our locations, don't worry. We offer in-home instruction and virtual options to ensure that Spark can reach you, no matter where you are. The hard work and dedication of Mel Northrop, Colin Caldwell, and Stephen Smith to start a summer Bible camp for children paid off in July 1952 when the first Camp Li-Lo-Li opened at Allegany State Park. Despite the fact that these three men had never run a camp before, their passion for the ministry inspired them to learn the ins and outs of running a camp and they succeeded in their mission. The camp was named by 11-year-old Betty Carol Northrop in a naming competition and stands for Life-Love-Light, all attributes of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Since 1955, families have trusted THE MOUNT TOM DIFFERENCE to create lasting memories and foster positive youth development. Each group is led by an experienced, professional educator who spends the entire camp day with your children. Campers have the opportunity to participate in over 50 developmentally appropriate activities, including sports, swimming, and arts and crafts. We strive to ensure all campers build positive relationships, take healthy risks, try new activities and increase self-esteem. Parents are welcomed to visit our amazing facility for an initial tour with one of our directors. Sky Lake is one of five camp and retreat centers owned and operated by the Upper New York Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. This camp and retreat center is part of the Camp & Retreat Ministries. It is supervised by The Executive Director of Camp & Retreat Ministries and overseen by the Committee on Camp & Retreat Ministries. At Sky Lake, visitors are encouraged to grow in their relationship with God, be the body of Christ within the world, and live in accordance with the example of Jesus Christ. 

Sky Lake provides a unique and meaningful experience for visitors, providing them with engaging, equipping and empowering activities. Through these activities, visitors are encouraged to build relationships with their neighbors, especially those who have been disenfranchised by mainstream society. Since 1927, the JCC of Binghamton has been a vital part of the Broome County community. Located south of the University Plaza, the JCC is a dynamic institution, enriching the lives of all ages through its wide variety of services. This dynamic institution offers a range of classes including stand-up comedy, advanced writer workshops, and even a summer camp! They even organize monthly live stand-up comedy shows, providing a real-world stage for budding comedians to showcase their talent.

At Kids ‘N Comedy, our experienced staff is comprised of accomplished writers and comedians from New York City. Their shared journey is what makes them so passionate about this project. They recall their teenage years, when they didn't have access to a program like this one, and are committed to ensuring today's youth don't miss out on this unique opportunity. We are thrilled to introduce Kara Hallett as the new Camp Director at 4-H Camp Owahta! Hailing from Warren Center, Pennsylvania, Kara fondly remembers the summers she spent attending camps at El Rancho de Paz (now Mapleridge Ranch) and Montrose Bible Conference. 

One of Kara's favorite memories from camp is playing four square with her two older sisters in the gym. She was so excited for her first year at camp that she even fell asleep on the gym floor!

We are confident that Kara will bring her enthusiasm and dedication to 4-H Camp Owahta, and we are excited to have her join the camp's leadership team. We can't wait to see what amazing experiences she will create for the campers this year!
