Welcome to the splendid state of New Jersey, also known as the "Garden State"! Imagine a place where you can find the beautiful sandy beaches of the Jersey Shore, the towering skyscrapers of Newark, and fields of towering sunflowers that stretch as far as the eye can see. Squeezed into this tiny, yet spectacular corner of America, there's a special group of kids with a superpower - they are the Karate Kids of New Jersey!

Their leader is a feisty, freckled 10-year-old named Jazzy Jersey (yes, Jersey is his last name, cool right?). Jazzy's got a black belt in karate and a heart full of Garden State pride. He can chop a board in half with just his little finger and his side-splitting jokes are legendary across the state.

These Karate Kids don't just toss around punches and kicks like they're on sale at the local grocery store. Oh no! They balance their rigorous training with epic pizza parties, epic beach days, and yes, even epic gardening (because they are from the Garden State after all!). They have a knack for turning every karate lesson into a comedy show. Let's just say their karate instructor, Mr. Chop Chop, has learned the hard way that sometimes a laugh can pack a harder punch than a karate chop.

In New Jersey, the kids are tougher than the turnpike, funnier than a comedy club, and cooler than a Jersey freeze pop on a hot summer day. Between the karate and the laughter, these kids are learning to be kind, brave, and just a little bit silly. So, if you hear the sound of chopping wood followed by a roar of laughter, you've probably just stumbled upon the Karate Kids of New Jersey!

Shukokai karate is a traditional Japanese martial art based on Shito Ryu (one of the first styles of karate) and refined by its founder, Soke Shigeru Kimura, 10th Dan. The style is defined by a one hit, one kill (or one meeting, one chance) striking power and embodies the values of discipline, focus, respect, patience, temperance, self-esteem, and creativity.

Students at the dojo (school) learn about technique, fighting, and the use of timing and character building on the path toward achieving their black belt. Classes are taught by Sensei Justin DeSalvo (5th Dan), Sempai Lynn DeSalvo (3rd Dan), Sempai Chris Lynch (3rd Dan), and various instructors.

Essex Shukokai Karate is affiliated with the American Shukokai Karate Union (ASKU), the national governing body of dojos teaching Kimura Shukokai, as well as Kimura Shukokai International, the world governing body, which represents over 20 member countries practicing this style of karate.

Since 1998, Brian Wright has been teaching Martial Arts and Fitness in Oakhurst, NJ. His academy is the first MMA Academy in the area and it is unquestionably the most experienced. When you join Killer B, you join a community of people who have been successful in martial arts and fitness. You will also be part of a legacy that has produced elite results for so many people in the local community just like you.

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a combination of arts that cover striking, takedowns, and submissions. It requires a high level of fitness, nutrition, and agility. At Killer B, we have a training facility for Adults and Children (6 years old and up). We believe one must train in the individual arts before one mixes them up. Train striking in our Kickboxing program, Takedowns and Submissions in Jiu Jitsu, and get into fighting shape in our fitness programs.
