These kids, whom Crispy affectionately calls his "Arrow Mavericks," are as diverse as North Carolina's landscape. They come from various parts of the state, some riding on tractors from the countryside, while others whizzing in on skateboards from buzzing cities. They put on their arm guards tighter than a space suit, hold their bows more delicately than a fresh doughnut, and aim their arrows with the intensity of a hawk eyeing a field mouse. No apple on any head stands a chance! Crispy loves to watch them, especially when they squint one eye, stick their tongues out a little, and then release the arrow, only for it to zooooom across the air and hit the bullseye! At that moment, Crispy Bacon always gives an impressed oink and cheers, spilling his popcorn all over.
