North Carolina, land of the long-leaf pines, where the dogwoods bloom and the cardinals sing, has a secret. A secret so thrilling it makes the squirrels drop their acorns, and the raccoons stop their rascal antics to watch. You see, scattered in the woods and across the mountains, hidden among the lush greenery, are a series of peculiar structures. These are the rope courses, where the coolest kids in the Tar Heel state hang out.

Now, you might think I'm talking about ordinary kids, but no sirree! These are NC kids! They can balance on a tightrope while reciting the state's 100 counties backward. They can swing from vine to vine like mini Tarzans, only stopping to snack on some Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

Our hero in this tale is a quirky, magical rabbit named Binky Bun. Binky is no ordinary bunny; he wears a red cape and has a shimmering, golden carrot strapped to his belt. He's exceptionally good at hopscotch (as you can imagine). Binky is the unofficial cheerleader, guide, and super coach for these daring rope coursers. He zips around with a sparkle in his eyes and a bounce in his step, encouraging the kids with his infectious enthusiasm and funny one-liners.

One of his favorites is, "Don't worry, you're not going to fall. And even if you do, the ground has agreed to catch you today!" The children laugh, their fears fade, and they navigate the courses with zeal. Amidst the chuckles and cheers, Binky adds a sprinkle of his magical charm to the rope course adventure, making it a highlight for every kid in North Carolina!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Swift Nature Camp an overnight camp for boys and girls ages 6-15 located in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin. 

 I’m Lonnie, the Camp Director, and I’m thrilled to share what makes SNC such a special place for kids and families alike. For nearly 30 years, our mission has been to create an environment where children can grow, discover, and make lifelong memories. Here at camp, we focus on friendship, personal development, and a deep connection to nature—all in a fun, supportive, and adventurous setting. All this without cell phones
One of the things that sets Swift Nature Camp apart is our focus on fostering independence and confidence. Whether it’s trying a new activity like canoeing, taking on a leadership role in a group project, or simply navigating life away from home, camp provides endless opportunities for personal growth. We celebrate each camper’s unique personality and encourage them to step outside their comfort zone in a safe and nurturing way. Seeing kids gain new skills and pride in their accomplishments is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

For our youngest campers, Discovery Camp is an especially magical experience. Designed only for first-time campers ages 6-12, this shorter program gives kids a chance to experience the joys of camp life in a way that’s just right for them. It’s amazing to watch these kids try new things—from learning about the natural world to singing campfire songs—and leave camp with big smiles and even bigger stories to tell. Discovery Camp is often the beginning of a long and cherished relationship with SNC, and we’re so proud to see those first-time campers grow into confident and capable young people.

Another cornerstone of Swift Nature Camp is our connection to the environment. We believe that nature isn’t just a backdrop for camp; it’s a teacher, a playground, and a source of endless wonder. Through hands-on activities like pond studies, wildlife observation, and outdoor adventures, campers develop an appreciation for the natural world that stays with them long after camp ends. The Camp Zoo is always a favorite, campers can even adopt a pet while at camp.Our goal is to inspire kids to become curious, mindful stewards of the environment.

At Swift Nature Camp, there’s never a dull day! With hundreds of land and water activities, campers are always engaged and excited. On land, some favorites include the Lego Cabin, Arts & Crafts, Archery, and exploring the Nature Center. On the water, campers learn Canoeing, Fishing, and Swimming, but the absolute favorites are Tubing behind the boat and jumping off the Water Trampoline. Never is there a dull day because every day is packed with fun, adventure, and opportunities to try something new.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the amazing friendships that form here. SNC is a place where kids truly feel like they belong. Campers and counselors alike bring warmth, kindness, and enthusiasm to everything we do, creating a strong sense of community. Whether it’s cheering each other on during a game, collaborating on a creative project, or sharing laughs around the campfire, the bonds formed at Swift Nature Camp are something truly special.

YMCA Camp Harrison at Herring Ridge provides an idyllic escape from the hustle of everyday life. Nestled in the Brushy Mountains of North Carolina, the camp offers more than 2,000 acres of beautiful wooded terrain and streams, complete with a private 140-acre lake. Campers can select from over 21 land activities such as archery, paintball, and ropes courses, and partake in water sports like kayaking and waterskiing. 

For a truly personalized experience, Camp Harrison offers adventure tracks with activities tailored to each individual camper. These activities range from the Dude Ranch to Sportsman to Vet Camp, and more. Mom & Me is a special option for mothers and their children to explore the outdoors together. Beyond the Ridge Teen Leadership focuses on building leadership skills, while Farm to Feast teaches campers about sustainability. The “Blob” and the “Wet Willie” are two popular water activities that will have campers of all ages screaming with delight.

Camp Illahee has been a place of growth and discovery since 1921, when Hinton and Francis McLeod established a unique environment for young women to thrive.  The camp’s commitment to its campers is stronger than ever, with its current directors, Gordon and Laurie Strayhorn, continuing the legacy of the McLeods.  Camp Illahee’s focus is always on the campers, and the Strayhorns are dedicated to making sure each camper feels recognized and heard.  With their individual attention and commitment to the campers, the Strayhorns are helping to ensure that Camp Illahee will remain a place of growth and discovery for many years to come.

For over 8 decades, Johns River Valley Camp and Retreat Center has been providing outdoor ministry experience to children, youth, adults, families, groups, and church communities. Nestled in the foothills of North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains, JRVC is situated beside a picturesque mountain stream with plenty of outdoor activities to offer. From waterfalls and hiking trails to an archery course, river activities, group interactive courses, and even a basketball court, the possibilities for outdoor fun and adventure are endless.

Southern Conference United Church of Christ’s outdoor ministry site, JRVC, has been providing a safe and exciting retreat experience since 1936. With its convenient access to the Blue Ridge Mountains and its scenic river, families and groups can enjoy an abundance of outdoor activities and adventures. Whether it’s playing a game of basketball or exploring the hiking trails, JRVC has something for everyone.

At Camp Kanata, campers will build lifelong friendships, discover new talents and explore the outdoors. Our traditional overnight camp experience is sure to create lasting memories and provide children with skills they can take home with them. 

Camp Kanata is the perfect place for kids to have fun and grow. With activities like archery, swimming, creative arts and water sports, campers can develop their skills and make lasting memories. Our 15-acre lake offers canoeing, kayaking and a 75-foot double waterslide, providing plenty of opportunity to explore the outdoors.

We understand the importance of safety and strive to provide a secure and supportive environment. Our 1:5 counselor-to-camper ratio ensures that each camper receives the attention they need and establishes a connection with our knowledgeable and caring staff.

At Camp Kanata, campers can develop their confidence and leadership skills while having a summer of fun. Our traditional overnight camp experience provides the perfect opportunity to make new friends and discover hidden talents. Our expansive 350-acre property in Randolph County, just south of Greensboro, is home to an Olympic-sized swimming pool and diving well, an outdoor adventure park, archery range, sports court and lake. Plus, the Circle C Equestrian Center is also part of the property, so girls can work on their horseback riding skills. 

Our team at Keyauwee is dedicated to providing an active and fun-filled experience for all the girls who visit us. Our well-rounded activities help build confidence and knowledge, plus encourage a positive outlook on life. With a state-of-the-art facility, the possibilities are endless! Girls can take a dive in the Olympic-sized pool, explore the outdoor adventure park, practice their aim on the archery range, play sports on the court, or head to the lake and Circle C Equestrian Center to work on their horseback riding skills.

Camp Willow Springs is a place where your child can learn about faith and have a fun-filled summer.  With activities like swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, and archery, kids will have the opportunity to develop their physical and interpersonal skills while exploring the beauty of nature.  Bible study and devotions are woven into each day, helping campers develop spiritually.  The camp also offers sports tournaments, chapel services, and evening campfires with games and singing.

At Camp Willow Springs, your child will be surrounded by a caring and supportive staff of Christian role models.  The campers will be encouraged to participate in activities with a positive attitude and to show respect for their peers.  Through building relationships with the other campers and the staff, your child will learn essential social skills and grow in their faith in a safe and fun environment.
