Chapter 9: "Michigan Mischief and Riflery Rascal" Michigan, oh Michigan! A state filled with enchanting forests, shimmering lakes, and some of the most exuberant kids you'll ever meet. A place where stories are as plentiful as the apples in the orchards and the cherries on the trees. Picture the mitten-shaped state as a magical backdrop, where frolicking deer, chirpy chipmunks, and the legendary Paul Bunyan roam. But that's not all! Michigan is also home to a group of extraordinary youngsters, known far and wide as the Riflery Rascals! Now, these aren't your ordinary kids, oh no! These are Michigan's finest marksmen, a team of fun-loving, sharp-shooting adventurers who spend their days honing their skills, learning the art of riflery. They could shoot the fuzz off a peach at a hundred yards or knock an apple off your head without messing up your hair. Sharp-eyed Sammy, their leader, is the slyest shooter of them all. With his magical glasses, there isn't a target he can't hit! Imagine them, lined up in their matching plaid shirts, a sight as colorful as Michigan's autumn leaves. They stand against the log cabin backdrop, illuminating a sense of camaraderie and childhood fun. They're not just learning to shoot; they're learning about teamwork, responsibility, and the art of perseverance. And let's not forget their mascot - a raccoon named Ricochet, a cheeky chap known for his mischievous grin and knack for causing endless hilarity. He's always up to some sort of shenanigans, whether it's stealing Sammy's magical glasses or getting his tail stuck in a bucket. So come, join the Michigan Riflery Rascals, where the targets are plenty, the laughter is loud, and the friendships are as timeless as the tales of the Great Lake State itself!"

Camp Concordia began in 1957 as an initiative of the Grand Valley Camp Association of the Lutheran Laymen's League. Since then, its mission has been to give children, youth and families the chance to encounter Christ in God's Creation. Through activities like swimming, archery, riflery, hikes, campouts, and more, campers get to experience the infinite love of God and learn to respect one another. All of this is overseen by trained counselors who are passionate about Jesus. In addition to having fun and making memories, campers also build strong missional skills and develop a call to action.
