Leading the pack is the ever-so-spirited, Maestro Mitten, a cool snowman with a magical conducting baton. He's not just cool because he's made of snow, he's cool because he wears sunglasses at night and strums an ice guitar. His humor is as contagious as the common cold in winter, often making the kids laugh so hard that they toot out notes from their instruments. In the vibrant city of Detroit to the tranquil banks of Lake Superior, these kids and Maestro Mitten charm the state with their enchanting music. From their trombones emerges a melody that makes the Mackinac Bridge sway in rhythm, while the drum beats cause the sand dunes of Sleeping Bear to jiggle and jig. The pianists tickle the ivories with such skill that even the cherries in Traverse city bob in applause. The violinists play with such grace that the white-tailed deer of the Upper Peninsula pause in admiration. Their orchestra is so harmonious that even the Petoskey stones hum along to their tune. The only rule in this harmonious quest is to play from the heart and fill Michigan's air with joyous symphony. What began in a humble New York City apartment with just a single student, Spark, has since blossomed into an enriching program impacting thousands of children. We also welcome homeschool groups and are thrilled to announce the recent addition of a forest school program to our repertoire. You can find Spark on-site in various schools and at our main studio located in the Upper West Side. But we're not stopping there - we're also planning to expand to the Upper East Side and Brooklyn. For our families in Pennsylvania, we run the program from our family studio there. And if you're not in close proximity to any of our locations, don't worry. His dedication to his craft has earned him a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Theory from Saginaw Valley State University and a Master of Music degree in Music Education from the University of Florida. While at SVSU, Wesley was able to take advantage of the expertise of esteemed instructors such as Dr. Mark Flegg, Nicholas Schmelter, and Dr. Edward Soehnlen in trumpet and piano. His graduate research at the University of Florida centered on creative ways to incorporate improvisation and composition activities into piano lessons for adolescent beginner students. Today, Wesley is based in Eastpointe and offers piano lessons in his home and online. His expertise and commitment to music education have earned him recognition in 2020 as one of the Top 10 Music Instructors in the Midland region by Lessons.com. Additionally, Wesley serves as the Music Director at First United Methodist Church of Mount Clemens. Wesley’s musical journey began with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Theory from Saginaw Valley State University and his Master of Music degree in Music Education from the University of Florida.
