Maine, often referred to as the "Pine Tree State", is a magical land that stretches out to the northernmost tip of the United States. It's a place where towering trees whisper stories to the wind, the ocean waves dance to their own rhythm, and the moose roam freely, occasionally taking part in impromptu soccer tournaments with the local squirrels. 

In this enchanted forest of a state, there's a group of extraordinary kids known as the “Whittling Whiz Kids”. These are not your everyday children. They can transform a block of wood into a majestic dragon, a knight's sturdy shield, or even a miniature model of the famous Portland Head Light. 

Their leader, a jolly lumberjack named Chuckles McSplinters, sports a beard as fluffy as a cloud, with specks of sawdust perpetually floating around. Chuckles not only teaches the kids the fine art of woodworking but also tells them wildly imaginative stories. These tales usually involve a legendary spatula named "Spatcula the Spectacular" that can flip pancakes higher than Mount Katahdin. 

The Whittling Whiz Kids, always armed with their trusty tools and boundless creativity, gather every Saturday in a treehouse workshop, high up in the branches of a colossal pine tree. As they carve, sand, and polish, the workshop echoes with their laughter, the sweet smell of wood chips filling the air. 

Maine, its forests, and these extraordinary kids are a testament to the magic that can happen when creativity, a lump of wood, and some good old-fashioned Maine spirit come together.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Swift Nature Camp an overnight camp for boys and girls ages 6-15 located in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin. 

 I’m Lonnie, the Camp Director, and I’m thrilled to share what makes SNC such a special place for kids and families alike. For nearly 30 years, our mission has been to create an environment where children can grow, discover, and make lifelong memories. Here at camp, we focus on friendship, personal development, and a deep connection to nature—all in a fun, supportive, and adventurous setting. All this without cell phones
One of the things that sets Swift Nature Camp apart is our focus on fostering independence and confidence. Whether it’s trying a new activity like canoeing, taking on a leadership role in a group project, or simply navigating life away from home, camp provides endless opportunities for personal growth. We celebrate each camper’s unique personality and encourage them to step outside their comfort zone in a safe and nurturing way. Seeing kids gain new skills and pride in their accomplishments is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

For our youngest campers, Discovery Camp is an especially magical experience. Designed only for first-time campers ages 6-12, this shorter program gives kids a chance to experience the joys of camp life in a way that’s just right for them. It’s amazing to watch these kids try new things—from learning about the natural world to singing campfire songs—and leave camp with big smiles and even bigger stories to tell. Discovery Camp is often the beginning of a long and cherished relationship with SNC, and we’re so proud to see those first-time campers grow into confident and capable young people.

Another cornerstone of Swift Nature Camp is our connection to the environment. We believe that nature isn’t just a backdrop for camp; it’s a teacher, a playground, and a source of endless wonder. Through hands-on activities like pond studies, wildlife observation, and outdoor adventures, campers develop an appreciation for the natural world that stays with them long after camp ends. The Camp Zoo is always a favorite, campers can even adopt a pet while at camp.Our goal is to inspire kids to become curious, mindful stewards of the environment.

At Swift Nature Camp, there’s never a dull day! With hundreds of land and water activities, campers are always engaged and excited. On land, some favorites include the Lego Cabin, Arts & Crafts, Archery, and exploring the Nature Center. On the water, campers learn Canoeing, Fishing, and Swimming, but the absolute favorites are Tubing behind the boat and jumping off the Water Trampoline. Never is there a dull day because every day is packed with fun, adventure, and opportunities to try something new.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the amazing friendships that form here. SNC is a place where kids truly feel like they belong. Campers and counselors alike bring warmth, kindness, and enthusiasm to everything we do, creating a strong sense of community. Whether it’s cheering each other on during a game, collaborating on a creative project, or sharing laughs around the campfire, the bonds formed at Swift Nature Camp are something truly special.

At Camp Takajo, we maintain a traditional camp experience that is focused on teaching and reinforcing the twelve Arch Ideals. These ideals are at the center of camp life and serve as a guide for our campers and staff members. Our goal is to provide a program that promotes the development of character and personal growth in a safe and positive environment.

The 12 Arch Ideals are integral to the Camp Takajo experience. These ideals form the foundation of our camp and are the cornerstone of our program. They are emulated by our staff and embraced by our campers. The ideals are reinforced throughout camp in both formal and informal settings, from educational assemblies and campfires to daily interactions. They provide the guiding principles for all of our campers and staff, setting the tone for a positive and meaningful summer experience.

Camp Takajo

Dr. George Alexander Kohut, a literary scholar and educator with a vision to provide a healthy and character-building outdoor experience, founded Kamp Kohut in 1907. Coming from the heat and pollution of the city, he ran a boys' school in New York, hence calling it "Kohut's School for Boys".

At Kamp Kohut, we pay special attention to the individual qualities of each camper. We understand that each child has different needs and interests and we strive to make sure that all campers have a truly special summer experience. We provide close supervision and carefully orchestrated detail to ensure that each child’s camp experience is successful.

At Camp Agawam, boys have the opportunity to become their best selves. Through a seven-week program, campers will gain leadership skills, nurture teamwork, and have healthy competition in a digital-free environment. This builds into them the traits of sportsmanship, service to others, and stewardship of the natural world that have been at the heart of the Agawam experience since 1919.

The camp is located on a 125 acre campus on Crescent Lake in Maine and is open to boys between the ages of 8 and 15 years. The camp program offers a variety of activities including water and land sports, creative and performing arts, wilderness trips, and camp craft. With over 75% of campers returning each year, it is clear that Camp Agawam is a great place for boys to grow and develop.

Parents can rest assured that their sons are in good hands at Camp Agawam. With a dedicated alumni network extending around the globe, a boy can leave camp with new skills, new friends, and a new sense of his own capacity. For those who are new to camp, they may have the opportunity to try it out in a 3.5-week session. Camp Agawam is an incredible place for boys to learn, grow, and make lasting memories.

Camp Pondicherry in Bridgton, Maine is a spectacular outdoor setting nestled on over 600 acres in the foothills of the White Mountains. Referred to affectionately as ‘Pondi’, this idyllic camp offers a private waterfront on Adams Pond and miles of unspoiled woodlands, fields and trails. 

The camp provides campers with easy access to hiking, beautiful lakes, mountains, quaint towns and ski slopes, making it the ideal destination for day camp, resident camp, troop camp and family camp. 

When not in use for the summer camp session, Pondi is available for rental use! The property offers several heated year-round buildings and seasonal campsites perfect for large or small groups.

Since 1915, the YMCA Camp of Maine has been dedicated to fulfilling the principles symbolized by the YMCA triangle, developing mind, body, and spirit for all. Located on the shores of Lake Cobbosseecontee, the camp is situated on over 300 acres of pine tree forests, meadows, and fresh water ponds.

YMCA Camp of Maine offers one and two-week overnight sessions for boys and girls ages 7 - 16.
