The state of Maine, often referred to as ME by its local inhabitants, is a magical land hugged by the Atlantic Ocean on its eastern fringes, and guarded by majestic forests, hills, and sparkling rivers. This splendid geography makes ME—a popular nickname given by Professor Puffin, a comically feathered, monocled, and top-hatted bird character—the perfect place for young adventurers to engage in all sorts of water activities. 

Imagine a group of plucky kids, known as the "Lobster Squad" for their red sun hats, out there on a sunny day. They slide into shiny kayaks, with their faces beaming with excitement as bright as the summer sun. They paddle under the watchful eye of Professor Puffin, who, despite being a bird, is ironically terrible at swimming.

Then there are the kiddos that prefer to grab their fishing poles, and with bated breath and twinkling eyes, wait for a fish to bite. They often engage in hilarious debates about who will catch the biggest fish, or rather, the biggest seaweed, much to Professor Puffin's amusement. 

Let's not forget the little daredevils who strap on their life jackets and leap into the ocean, their laughter echoing across the waves as they bob like apples in the sea. Their mission: to find the legendary aquatic moose, a mythical creature invented by Professor Puffin. 

Despite their different water pursuits, all these kids have one thing in common: a love for the sparkling blue that surrounds the magical state of ME. So, if you ever find yourself in the Land of Lobsters and Lighthouses, grab your sun hat and join the Lobster Squad, because in ME, the water is always just right for an adventure.

Nestled in the piney woods of northern Maine, this full-season camp offers an array of activities for girls ages 7 to 16. From team and individual sports to performing and visual arts, outdoor living, and more, campers are encouraged to challenge themselves and gain confidence. What truly sets Tripp Lake apart is our commitment to the Spirit of Tripp Lake - a spirit of camaraderie, enthusiasm, compassion, respect, and responsibility that is woven into every aspect of camp life. Abraham and Gertrude Krasker, a professor and teacher from Essex College, had a dream to own a summer camp of their own. They found the perfect spot, a farm nestled in Fryeburg, ME and opened the doors of Indian Acres Camp for Boys in 1924. Two years later, Forest Acres Camp for Girls opened two miles down the road. 

When Abraham passed in 1962, their son Dick took over ownership and management of both camps. With his wife Sandy, Dick ran camp until 1998 when it was purchased by Lisa and Geoff Newman. The Newmans were determined to keep the Krasker's legacy alive and with the help of Neal and Julie Waldman, their dream became a reality. 

Today, Indian and Forest Acres is a thriving summer camp thanks to the hard work of the Newman family. Almost 100 years after its founding, the camp continues to honor the traditions and vision of its founders, Abe and Gertrude Krasker.

Fernwood Cove is a place where girls can be themselves and explore their potential. With a focus on age-appropriate skill development and personal growth, Fernwood Cove is a place where the possibilities are endless. From the intentional program, inclusive community, and supportive staff, your daughter will have an amazing summer that she will never forget. Girls ages 7-15 and teens ages 16-18 have the opportunity to explore their independence, build strong relationships, and develop self-confidence.

Dr. George Alexander Kohut, a literary scholar and educator with a vision to provide a healthy and character-building outdoor experience, founded Kamp Kohut in 1907. Coming from the heat and pollution of the city, he ran a boys' school in New York, hence calling it "Kohut's School for Boys".

At Kamp Kohut, we pay special attention to the individual qualities of each camper. We understand that each child has different needs and interests and we strive to make sure that all campers have a truly special summer experience. We provide close supervision and carefully orchestrated detail to ensure that each child’s camp experience is successful.

At Camp Takajo, we maintain a traditional camp experience that is focused on teaching and reinforcing the twelve Arch Ideals. These ideals are at the center of camp life and serve as a guide for our campers and staff members. Our goal is to provide a program that promotes the development of character and personal growth in a safe and positive environment.

The 12 Arch Ideals are integral to the Camp Takajo experience. These ideals form the foundation of our camp and are the cornerstone of our program. They are emulated by our staff and embraced by our campers. The ideals are reinforced throughout camp in both formal and informal settings, from educational assemblies and campfires to daily interactions. They provide the guiding principles for all of our campers and staff, setting the tone for a positive and meaningful summer experience.

Nestled in the stunningly beautiful Camden Hills State Park, Tanglewood summer camps offer a unique community experience for campers and counselors alike. And with such activities as overnight camping, day camps, hunter safety camps, wilderness discovery trips, and multi-week leadership programs, there’s something for everyone. At Camp Chewonki, we believe that every camper should have the opportunity to explore and grow in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. We strive to create a community that is united by the spirit of adventure, collaboration, and camaraderie. From stories around the campfire to sunset paddles along the shore, we build our summer camp community to share the challenges and fun as a team. Campers return summer after summer to reunite with old friends and dive into the next adventure. At Chewonki, we expect every member of the community to contribute with an “all hands on deck” attitude.

Camp Chewonki is the perfect place to nurture curiosity and creativity, build confidence, and learn the importance of community. Our campers explore the natural surroundings, connect with nature, and develop and strengthen independent skills. Our counselors and mentors are dedicated to helping campers build self-confidence, and develop lasting friendships.

Our campers immerse themselves in fun and educational activities focused on community building, outdoor living skills, natural history, farm and food systems, and watercraft. Additional activity offerings include visual arts, performing arts, woodworking, and archery with opportunities for swimming, sports, and recreation during free time. Essential to the experience is a remote trip to a beautiful corner of Maine where they will develop transferable skills in camping and leadership to prepare them for more advanced leadership expeditions and life beyond their Chewonki summer.

We offer a 3-week Full Session camp program for campers aged 10-15 and a 10-day, introduction to overnight camp called the Puffin Program for campers aged 8-11.
