Once upon a time, in the dazzling state of Maine, known as ME by the cool kids, a scruffy bunch of daring youngsters were well-known for their wild kayaking adventures. Maine, with its colossal mountains, dense forests and whispering waterfalls, was their ultimate playground. This wasn't just the land of lobsters and lighthouses; oh no! This was the land of the Kayaking Kiddos, led by their fearless friend, Captain Ducktail. Captain Ducktail, with his belly full of laughter and a beard that rivaled Santa's, was a sight to behold. Every time he paddled, it seemed like he was trying to outrun his unruly beard that streamed behind him like a comet’s tail! He was as much a part of Maine as the stunning Penobscot Bay, moose sightings, or the famous wild blueberries. The Kayaking Kiddos, loyal followers of Captain Ducktail, were as unique as the state they lived in. They had wild hearts, big smiles and well-worn life jackets. Their laughter echoed across the lakes as they battled the waves, their kayaks bobbing like enthusiastic sea otters. Each Kiddo claimed to have seen the legendary Maine Mermaid while kayaking...though they also claimed to have seen Captain Ducktail's beard take flight one windy afternoon. These young adventurers spent their days paddling around the islands that dotted Maine's coast like sprinkles on an ice-cream sundae. Every time they hit the water, they’d shout, "Paddle on, ME!" And every time, Maine would reply in the only way it knew how - with a gust of fresh sea breeze, the scent of pine, and the promise of another great adventure. Oh, Maine and the Kayaking Kiddos! What a team they made!

For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Our mission is to use Christian camping and outdoor recreation as a means to support local churches in fulfilling the Great Commission—evangelizing people of all ages and discipling believers toward deeper maturity in Christ. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Whether through summer camps or retreats, our goal remains the same: to expose people to Christ and encourage their spiritual growth through His Word and by reflecting His character in everything we do. While we provide top-notch recreation and exciting programming, the heart of our camp is the spiritual impact, rooted in the truth of God’s inerrant Word.
Abe and Gertrude Krasker's dream of owning a summer camp came true in 1924 when they opened Indian Acres Camp for Boys in Fryeburg, ME. The couple had fallen in love with a property they purchased from Abe's student at Essex College. Two years later, they opened Forest Acres Camp for Girls two miles down the road. When Abe passed away in 1962, his son Richard took over the management of both camps, with his mother teaching him the ropes of camp ownership. He and his wife Sandy fully took over in 1969. In 1998, the camps were purchased by Lisa and Geoff Newman who were determined to keep the tradition the Kraskers had established alive. Between 2005 and 2010, Neal and Julie Waldman co-directed camp with Lisa and Geoff. Now, almost 100 years after its founding, Indian and Forest Acres thrive under the Newman’s leadership with tradition at the heart of what makes the camp so special.
