In 1976, a group of devoted Wellfleet parents came together to form the Wellfleet Preschool Playgroup. For over thirty years, the school provided quality preschool education to the area, until state cutbacks forced its closure in 2008. Luckily, a year later, a group of determined local mothers took it upon themselves to fill the gap left by the school's closure by founding the Wellfleet Montessori Preschool.
