In 1971, a group of citizens from the Melrose community, including members of the First Congregational Church, set out to create the Melrose Day Care Center, Inc. (MDCC). Amy Spollett and Janet Runge were instrumental in starting MDCC, and both women continue to serve on the Board of Directors today.
