Every morning at the crack of dawn, right as the sun begins to play peek-a-boo with the mountains, the dojo doors swing open and in tumble the Karate Cuties. Leading the pack is our hero, the Karate Kangaroo, Kiko. Kiko, with his marsupial moves and black belt in belly laughs, is the heart and soul of the Mighty-Mass dojo. He hops around in his red bandana, teaching the kids the art of the ‘Kangaroo Kick’ and the secret of the ‘Pouch Punch’. With Kiko, every karate lesson is a belly-busting adventure. You'll find the Karate Cuties rolling on the floor, not from Kiko's kicks, but from fits of laughter. But don't let those giggles fool you. When it’s time to get serious, these kids transform into mini karate masters, their faces focused, their moves swift and precise. With Kiko cheering on, they break boards and the stereotype that karate is just about fighting. For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Dragon Phoenix Dojo is the perfect place for families to learn and grow together. Led by Shihan Jesse Dwire, a dedicated martial artist with more than three decades of experience, Dragon Phoenix Dojo offers a safe and encouraging environment for individuals of all levels and backgrounds to learn and develop the skills and values of martial arts. Students are guided through the fundamentals of martial arts, such as character, effort, etiquette, sincerity and self control. To help bring the teachings to life, Shihan Dwire uses the symbols of traditional animals - tiger for strength, leopard for speed, crane for balance and snake for ground fighting - as well as the dragon and phoenix, which represent wisdom and ultimate fighting spirit. At Dragon Phoenix Dojo, families can come together to build relationships, gain strength and confidence, and experience the camaraderie of a supportive community.
