Enrollment in the program began with 50 students in its inaugural year, and has grown steadily since then. In 2013, a Kindergarten Musicianship class was established, offering instruction in general music, paper orchestra, beginner strings, and community development from an early age. As a result of the Program’s success, more faculty has been added, and the number of students and hours of instruction have both increased. In January 1920, the Woman’s Home Missionary Society of the Methodist Church opened the predecessor of the Wesley Education Center for Children and Families in response to the needs of young working mothers. Located in one room of Friendship Home at 641 West Fourth Street in downtown Cincinnati, the agency was called Friendship Home Nursery Kindergarten.
