In the enchanting state of Massachusetts, where the leaves transform into a kaleidoscope of colors every autumn and the winters sparkle with snow, there's a group of extraordinary kids who are masters of the ancient sport, Fencing. 

These aren't your everyday kids, oh no! These are the "Massachusetts Mini Musketeers", young knights and dames of the modern world, charging into battles with their shiny foils, épées, and sabres. Every day after school, they leave their backpacks at home and replace them with their mighty weapons and impenetrable masks.

Meet their fearless leader, Captain Fizzlesticks, a figment from a fairy tale, who stepped out of a dusty old book and into reality. Fizzlesticks, with his fuzzy moustache and a hat as pointy as a fencing sword, makes the training sessions a barrel of laughs. He has a peculiar habit of speaking in rhymes and riddles, which sometimes tangles up the Mini Musketeers, but they love him all the same.

When the Mini Musketeers train, they dance a dance of discipline and focus. Their swift, nimble movements are like a choreographed performance, filled with lunges, parries, and ripostes. When they play, laughter echoes across Massachusetts, reaching from Boston's historic Freedom Trail to the leafy trails of the Berkshire Mountains. 

So, if you're ever in Massachusetts, and hear the 'clink-clink' of fencing swords, follow the sound, and you might just find our Mini Musketeers, led by the rhyming Captain Fizzlesticks, spinning tales of their fencing adventures. Remember, though, don't be fooled by their giggles and grins. These kids are as fierce as they are fun.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Swift Nature Camp an overnight camp for boys and girls ages 6-15 located in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin. 

 I’m Lonnie, the Camp Director, and I’m thrilled to share what makes SNC such a special place for kids and families alike. For nearly 30 years, our mission has been to create an environment where children can grow, discover, and make lifelong memories. Here at camp, we focus on friendship, personal development, and a deep connection to nature—all in a fun, supportive, and adventurous setting. All this without cell phones
One of the things that sets Swift Nature Camp apart is our focus on fostering independence and confidence. Whether it’s trying a new activity like canoeing, taking on a leadership role in a group project, or simply navigating life away from home, camp provides endless opportunities for personal growth. We celebrate each camper’s unique personality and encourage them to step outside their comfort zone in a safe and nurturing way. Seeing kids gain new skills and pride in their accomplishments is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

For our youngest campers, Discovery Camp is an especially magical experience. Designed only for first-time campers ages 6-12, this shorter program gives kids a chance to experience the joys of camp life in a way that’s just right for them. It’s amazing to watch these kids try new things—from learning about the natural world to singing campfire songs—and leave camp with big smiles and even bigger stories to tell. Discovery Camp is often the beginning of a long and cherished relationship with SNC, and we’re so proud to see those first-time campers grow into confident and capable young people.

Another cornerstone of Swift Nature Camp is our connection to the environment. We believe that nature isn’t just a backdrop for camp; it’s a teacher, a playground, and a source of endless wonder. Through hands-on activities like pond studies, wildlife observation, and outdoor adventures, campers develop an appreciation for the natural world that stays with them long after camp ends. The Camp Zoo is always a favorite, campers can even adopt a pet while at camp.Our goal is to inspire kids to become curious, mindful stewards of the environment.

At Swift Nature Camp, there’s never a dull day! With hundreds of land and water activities, campers are always engaged and excited. On land, some favorites include the Lego Cabin, Arts & Crafts, Archery, and exploring the Nature Center. On the water, campers learn Canoeing, Fishing, and Swimming, but the absolute favorites are Tubing behind the boat and jumping off the Water Trampoline. Never is there a dull day because every day is packed with fun, adventure, and opportunities to try something new.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the amazing friendships that form here. SNC is a place where kids truly feel like they belong. Campers and counselors alike bring warmth, kindness, and enthusiasm to everything we do, creating a strong sense of community. Whether it’s cheering each other on during a game, collaborating on a creative project, or sharing laughs around the campfire, the bonds formed at Swift Nature Camp are something truly special.

The Boston Fencing Club Foundation is a non-profit organization with a mission of making fencing more accessible in the metro-Boston area. We partner with local organizations, such as the Boys and Girls Club of Waltham, to introduce more young people to the sport. Our goal is to raise the funds needed to make these programs more consistent and reliable, so that students from all backgrounds can enjoy fencing and stay fit.

We are dedicated to advancing the Olympic sport of fencing in the United States, and providing fencers of all abilities, ages, and skill levels with high-quality instruction and bouting opportunities. Our goal is to make the physical and financial aspects of fencing accessible to all potential athletes in the region. We also strive to develop not only athletic skills, but mental skills as well, in a safe and healthy environment. We want to use the discipline of fencing to help our athletes succeed in their academic, professional, and business lives.

The Boston Fencing Club Foundation is committed to expanding the reach of fencing in the metro-Boston area. Through partnerships with local organizations, we’re introducing more young people to the sport. We’re also raising funds to make these programs more consistent and reliable for students from all backgrounds. At Vivo Fencing Club, founded in 2012, beginners and elite competitive fencers alike can learn the Olympic sport of fencing. Our club is located in Haverhill, MA, about 35 miles north of Boston. With 15 electric strips laid out on special resilient sports flooring, we provide ample space and a comfortable climate-controlled environment to learn. Plus, all of the fencing equipment is supplied for beginner classes, making Vivo a great place to start. 

Our coaches are amongst the best in the sport. Arpad Horvath is a former World Champion, and Molly Sullivan Sliney is a two-time Olympian. Kornel Udvarhelyi is our Master Coach for both Epee and Foil. He recently served as Coach of the U.S. Men’s Epee Olympic Team in Tokyo 2020/2021.

The Massachusetts Amateur Sports Foundation is dedicated to providing opportunities for personal growth, educational advancement, physical fitness, and teamwork for citizens of all ages and abilities in the Bay State. Established in 1982, this non-profit 501(c)(3) organization is the proud host of the State Games of the Commonwealth and is recognized nationally for its Olympic-style events. 

The Foundation offers a variety of programs to support its mission, including the High School Ambasador Program, Internship Program, Sports Medicine Program, and Future Leaders Scholarship. Each year, over 5,000 participants from 300 cities and towns directly benefit from the Massachusetts Amateur Sports Foundation’s programs, making it an important part of life in the Commonwealth. 

The Foundation also encourages sportsmanship and teamwork through its events, creating a positive environment for Massachusetts citizens to come together and experience the benefits of physical activity. Our program is designed to create a positive and safe environment where fencers can learn both athletic and mental skills through individual and team competition. We strive to help our young athletes succeed not just on the fencing strip, but also in the academic, business, and professional worlds. Through our high-quality instruction and bouting opportunities, we make the sport of fencing accessible to all interested in the greater Boston area. Our goal is to help our athletes become successful, competitive fencers on the national and international levels.

Olympic fencing--or, as it's more commonly known, fencing--is a sport that offers parents and their children the chance to participate in a rich tradition dating back to the days of duelling. It involves using one of three kinds of bladed weapons: foil, épée, and saber, each with their own set of rules and regulations. What's more, fencing is one of only five sports that have been included in every single modern Olympics. Along with athletics, cycling, swimming, and gymnastics, fencing is the perfect sport for kids and parents to explore together.

Camp Mah-Kee-Nac in Lenox, Massachusetts is an idyllic overnight camp for boys that promotes a strong sense of community. Campers and staff alike are challenged with an action-packed day of sports, outdoor adventure, waterfront, media, and the arts. For more than 100 years, Hill House has been a beacon of hope in downtown Boston. The Mt. Vernon and Joy Street buildings, located in the heart of Beacon Hill, offer a variety of programs for children from newborn to 12 years old. From creative endeavors to intellectual pursuits, Hill House gives families who live in Beacon Hill, Back Bay, West End and other downtown neighborhoods access to the same youth activities that are typically found in the suburbs. Each year, over 2,000 children enroll in Hill House programs. 

Hill House is particularly well-known for its early childhood classes, but it also supports the community through monthly senior dinners, outreach programs and seasonal events. The Hill House Soccer program is Boston’s largest organized fall soccer program, with more than 500 players and volunteer coaches. The organization also encourages families to give back with its Hill House Outreach Program (HHOP), which donates time and assets to local non-profits that serve women and children in need. 

For more than a century, Hill House has been providing an inspiring and supportive environment for children and families in downtown Boston. With its array of athletic, creative and intellectual programs, Hill House continues to be a source of hope and opportunity for many.
