Once upon a time, in the state of Illinois, a band of spunky kids ruled the soccer fields. These kiddos were lightning quick, boisterously loud, and as tough as a bunch of miniature Wolverines. Illinois was their playground, and soccer was their favorite game! 

Every dawn, afternoon, and dusk, the gleeful cheers of these young soccer wizards echoed over the tall prairies, through the bustling cities, and off the glittering skyscrapers of Illinois. They were agile as gazelles, outmaneuvering their opponents with tricks and flicks that would leave even the professional soccer stars stunned and slack-jawed in admiration. 

Then there was their captain, a charismatic sprite named Dash. Dash wasn't the tallest or the strongest, but oh boy, he was faster than a prairie fox and craftier than a Chicago squirrel! Not to mention, Dash had a whopping collection of multi-colored soccer socks, one for each day of the week, and each pair funnier than the last. Monday was neon green with polka dots, Tuesday was bright orange with dinosaur spikes, and the list went on, tickling everyone's funny bones!

With Dash leading and the rest of the gang following, the kids of Illinois owned the soccer fields, each game a new adventure, a new chance to laugh, and a new opportunity to make fun memories. Together, they painted the state of Illinois with their passion, their laughter, and their never-ending spirit, one soccer game at a time. Illinois wasn't just the land of Lincoln; it was the land of Dash's hilarious sock collection and a troupe of young soccer enthusiasts who loved the game more than anything else!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Swift Nature Camp an overnight camp for boys and girls ages 6-15 located in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin. 

 I’m Lonnie, the Camp Director, and I’m thrilled to share what makes SNC such a special place for kids and families alike. For nearly 30 years, our mission has been to create an environment where children can grow, discover, and make lifelong memories. Here at camp, we focus on friendship, personal development, and a deep connection to nature—all in a fun, supportive, and adventurous setting. All this without cell phones
One of the things that sets Swift Nature Camp apart is our focus on fostering independence and confidence. Whether it’s trying a new activity like canoeing, taking on a leadership role in a group project, or simply navigating life away from home, camp provides endless opportunities for personal growth. We celebrate each camper’s unique personality and encourage them to step outside their comfort zone in a safe and nurturing way. Seeing kids gain new skills and pride in their accomplishments is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

For our youngest campers, Discovery Camp is an especially magical experience. Designed only for first-time campers ages 6-12, this shorter program gives kids a chance to experience the joys of camp life in a way that’s just right for them. It’s amazing to watch these kids try new things—from learning about the natural world to singing campfire songs—and leave camp with big smiles and even bigger stories to tell. Discovery Camp is often the beginning of a long and cherished relationship with SNC, and we’re so proud to see those first-time campers grow into confident and capable young people.

Another cornerstone of Swift Nature Camp is our connection to the environment. We believe that nature isn’t just a backdrop for camp; it’s a teacher, a playground, and a source of endless wonder. Through hands-on activities like pond studies, wildlife observation, and outdoor adventures, campers develop an appreciation for the natural world that stays with them long after camp ends. The Camp Zoo is always a favorite, campers can even adopt a pet while at camp.Our goal is to inspire kids to become curious, mindful stewards of the environment.

At Swift Nature Camp, there’s never a dull day! With hundreds of land and water activities, campers are always engaged and excited. On land, some favorites include the Lego Cabin, Arts & Crafts, Archery, and exploring the Nature Center. On the water, campers learn Canoeing, Fishing, and Swimming, but the absolute favorites are Tubing behind the boat and jumping off the Water Trampoline. Never is there a dull day because every day is packed with fun, adventure, and opportunities to try something new.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the amazing friendships that form here. SNC is a place where kids truly feel like they belong. Campers and counselors alike bring warmth, kindness, and enthusiasm to everything we do, creating a strong sense of community. Whether it’s cheering each other on during a game, collaborating on a creative project, or sharing laughs around the campfire, the bonds formed at Swift Nature Camp are something truly special.

The Bolingbrook Park District offers a wide variety of recreational activities and amenities for families in the community. Located in Bolingbrook, Illinois, the Park District is just a short 25 miles away from the city of Chicago, and serves a population of 76,272. 

With over 1,106 acres of land, the Bolingbrook Park District provides two community centers, an indoor/outdoor aquatic park, a golf course, a banquet facility and restaurant, a fitness center, two outdoor skate parks, a sports complex, and 50 parks with multiple playgrounds, picnic shelters, and more. According to Money Magazine, Bolingbrook is one of the nation’s Top 100 Cities to Live. 

Residents and visitors of the Bolingbrook Park District can take advantage of the many recreational opportunities available. In 1957, Jim Clarkson founded the Northfield Park District with a mission to meet the recreational needs of the community. Mr. Clarkson, who was also teaching Physical Education at Sunset Ridge School, began his park district work as a part-time proposition. 

Today, the Park District continues to serve the residents of Northfield, supervising the usage and maintenance of park resources and providing a variety of facilities, programs, and activities. Whether it's a game of pickup basketball or a nature walk in the woods, the Park District is dedicated to helping residents of all ages make the most of their leisure time.

South Suburban Special Recreation Association (SSSRA)

Since 1981, WSRA has been providing recreational programs for individuals of all ages with special needs. Our experienced staff is professionally trained in therapeutic recreation to provide the best services possible. 

Each year, WSRA serves more than 100 individuals of all ages with disabilities through 75 recreation programs, special events, and trips. We provide transportation for our program registrants and network with local schools, nonprofits, and government agencies to ensure that everyone has access to the recreational activities they need. We are proud to be a part of the partnership of Gurnee, Grandwood Park, Wildwood Park Districts, and Warren Township and look forward to continuing to offer our services in the years to come.

Warren Special Recreation Association

The Park District and Park Foundation are collaborating to ensure that all park district residents have access to the recreational programs. To this end, assistance is provided to those facing financial hardship. This program is available to all who live in the park district boundaries and are in need of assistance. Individuals who have special medical, physical, psychological, and/or emotional needs or receive special services from the school district are also encouraged to reach out to the Park District. The staff at Lincolnway Special Recreation Association will work with the Park District to provide reasonable accommodations to participants with disabilities. Participants who would like to request inclusion services are asked to complete the appropriate forms provided by the Park District.

Parents looking for enriching experiences for their family will find plenty to do at the Palos Heights Parks and Recreation Department! Adults can take part in a variety of classes, ranging from art to cooking to fitness. Seniors can join a group to play bingo or bridge. Teens can join a sports team or take part in leisure activities. And preschoolers and young children can get creative with art projects, music classes, and more.

The Palos Heights Parks and Recreation Department is the perfect place for families to have fun and learn together. Parents and their children can take part in a variety of activities, such as music classes, sports teams, cooking classes, and more. Seniors can socialize and join groups for bingo or bridge. Its mission was and still is to provide the very best parks and recreation experiences to the community while being safe and fiscally responsible. Today, the Lemont Park District continues to carry out this mission, providing the community with safe and enjoyable outdoor experiences.

For more than a century, Glen Ellyn Park District has been dedicated to meeting the recreational needs of Glen Ellyn residents. Our commitment to enhancing people’s lives and building a stronger community is demonstrated by our diverse offerings and facilities. We maintain 29 parks, 21 playgrounds, and 300 acres of open space that are available to everyone. Our facilities include Ackerman SFC, Lake Ellyn Boathouse, Holes & Knolls, and Sunset Pool.

Our Park District offers more than 700 programs and special events for the community to enjoy. Our seasonal Playbooks list all the programs we provide, and they are accessible and affordable for everyone. Our services are tax-supported, with 45% of our operations being financed by annual taxes and the rest through user fees. Our Board of Commissioners is made up of 7 members who are elected by the community to serve 4-year unpaid terms.

At our facility, we offer a variety of recreational activities for youth throughout the year! From T-ball to soccer, basketball to summer camp, and tennis to name a few, there's something for everyone. To help young kids develop their skills and interests, we team up with local high school coaching staffs to offer clinics for students in grades K-8. 

Every year, we put on special events like the Daddy Daughter Dance and Hometown Holiday celebration to bring families together in the community. It's a great opportunity for parents to spend quality time with their children and create lasting memories.
