Deep down in the heart of the South, there's a magical land known as Georgia - or as the locals call it, the "Peach State." This isn't just any ordinary land; it's a place where mountain peaks touch the clouds, and rivers dance through the valleys. A place brimming with trails that whisper old, secret tales to those who dare venture on them. And the bravest adventurers of them all, you ask? The Georgia kids, of course! Led by their fearless leader, a slightly goofy but incredibly brave squirrel named Nutty McAcorn, these kids boldly explore Georgia's majestic terrains. Nutty, with his acorn-helmet and fluffy tail, always sets off with his trusty hiking boots and a backpack filled with peach-flavored snacks. He's always ready for a good chuckle, often tripping over his own tail, or mistakenly referring to the Chattahoochee River as the "Chattahoo-waka-doodle-doo." But don't be fooled by their laughter and seemingly carefree spirits; these young adventurers are as courageous as they come. They traipse through the dense forests of the Appalachian Trail, navigate the steep slopes of Stone Mountain, and even dare to peek into the depths of Providence Canyon. They laugh in the face of 'challenging terrain', and giggle at the sign of 'steep slopes'. Each hike is a new adventure, a new story, a new excuse to laugh out loud and enjoy the magic that is Georgia. With Nutty McAcorn leading the way and their infectious laughter echoing through the valleys, the hiking kids of Georgia never fail to remind us that adventure and laughter are the true spirit of this Peachy state!

At Wilderness Works, we believe that all children deserve the opportunity to be nurtured, experience adventure, and learn important life skills. For over two decades, we have been providing Atlanta’s homeless, at-risk, and vulnerable children with the year-round enrichment, experiential education, and character development they need to succeed. Our graduate programs focus on cognitive, emotional, physical, and social development, allowing children to grow up with us as they age from eight to eighteen. Our five chief programs - Day Camp, City Camp, Summer Camp, Core Camps, and Field Camp - provide a powerful alternative to traditional school learning, especially on weekends, school holidays, and during the summer months. We strive to ensure that all of our kids have the chance to be nurtured, explore adventure, and learn important life skills, helping them to develop a strong sense of self-worth and the confidence they need to achieve success.
