The state of California, known affectionally as the Golden State, is as beautiful and as golden as a sunflower basking in the afternoon sunshine. It's a magical place where majestic mountains share the horizon with lush vineyards and the roaring Pacific Ocean. But the real magic happens in the gardens, where a peculiar group of kids, the 'Green Thumbs Gang,' spends their time.

The leader of this gang is a funny little character known as Muddy Boots. With a hat as wide as a satellite dish and a spade that doubles as his scepter, Muddy Boots rules his garden kingdom with a green thumb and a hearty laugh. His eyes sparkle with enthusiasm as bright as the starlight, and his laughter is as contagious as a wild daisy spreading across the field. 

The other kids in the Green Thumbs Gang all look up to Muddy Boots. They're a bunch of dirt-smudged, sun-kissed, worm-chasing, seed-planting oddballs. They spend their sunny California days laboring in the soil, planting the weirdest and wildest plants they can find. From rainbow carrots to striped tomatoes, their garden is as varied as a painter's palette. 

Every so often, Muddy Boots would declare a "Garden Giggles Day." On this special occasion, the gang would throw rotten tomatoes at each other, stage worm races, and have a contest to see who could make the funniest vegetable face. After all the hullabaloo, they would sit under a big shady tree, munching on their home-grown snacks, their laughter echoing across the garden, nearly as heart-warming as the Californian sun above them.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Swift Nature Camp an overnight camp for boys and girls ages 6-15 located in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin. 

 I’m Lonnie, the Camp Director, and I’m thrilled to share what makes SNC such a special place for kids and families alike. For nearly 30 years, our mission has been to create an environment where children can grow, discover, and make lifelong memories. Here at camp, we focus on friendship, personal development, and a deep connection to nature—all in a fun, supportive, and adventurous setting. All this without cell phones
One of the things that sets Swift Nature Camp apart is our focus on fostering independence and confidence. Whether it’s trying a new activity like canoeing, taking on a leadership role in a group project, or simply navigating life away from home, camp provides endless opportunities for personal growth. We celebrate each camper’s unique personality and encourage them to step outside their comfort zone in a safe and nurturing way. Seeing kids gain new skills and pride in their accomplishments is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

For our youngest campers, Discovery Camp is an especially magical experience. Designed only for first-time campers ages 6-12, this shorter program gives kids a chance to experience the joys of camp life in a way that’s just right for them. It’s amazing to watch these kids try new things—from learning about the natural world to singing campfire songs—and leave camp with big smiles and even bigger stories to tell. Discovery Camp is often the beginning of a long and cherished relationship with SNC, and we’re so proud to see those first-time campers grow into confident and capable young people.

Another cornerstone of Swift Nature Camp is our connection to the environment. We believe that nature isn’t just a backdrop for camp; it’s a teacher, a playground, and a source of endless wonder. Through hands-on activities like pond studies, wildlife observation, and outdoor adventures, campers develop an appreciation for the natural world that stays with them long after camp ends. The Camp Zoo is always a favorite, campers can even adopt a pet while at camp.Our goal is to inspire kids to become curious, mindful stewards of the environment.

At Swift Nature Camp, there’s never a dull day! With hundreds of land and water activities, campers are always engaged and excited. On land, some favorites include the Lego Cabin, Arts & Crafts, Archery, and exploring the Nature Center. On the water, campers learn Canoeing, Fishing, and Swimming, but the absolute favorites are Tubing behind the boat and jumping off the Water Trampoline. Never is there a dull day because every day is packed with fun, adventure, and opportunities to try something new.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the amazing friendships that form here. SNC is a place where kids truly feel like they belong. Campers and counselors alike bring warmth, kindness, and enthusiasm to everything we do, creating a strong sense of community. Whether it’s cheering each other on during a game, collaborating on a creative project, or sharing laughs around the campfire, the bonds formed at Swift Nature Camp are something truly special.

Swift Nature Camp

The Los Angeles County 4-H Youth Development Program has been providing a unique and enriching camp experience since 1931!  Campers ages 8 to 18 have the opportunity to make new friends, stay active with organized games and sports activities, explore the outdoors, create arts and crafts projects, and develop leadership skills.  Over the years, campers have come from California, and all over the U.S., to take part in the week-long overnight camp program.  The camp meets the highest standards set by both the California 4-H Youth Development Program and the American Camp Association.  The camp staff is made up of senior 4-H members, adult volunteers, and 4-H UCANR staff, and the 4-H Summer Camp Committee is responsible for managing the program, ensuring ACA accreditation, and selecting the camp's most qualified leaders.

At Twirl, we believe in nurturing the creative minds of all ages. Our mission is to bring out the inquisitive inventor in all of us through the joys of making and play.

Drop in for open studio, where you can explore our space and tools at your own pace, or sign up for one of our classes or art camps. If it's a Friday night, let us handle the babysitting! Parents can sign the kids up for Kids Night Out, and take a well-deserved break.

Twirl isn't just a place, we also bring the party to you! Reserve our "Twirl Art Cart" and we'll bring all the supplies and creativity to you. Host a party in our space and we'll do the planning, guided making, and even the cleaning up. All you have to do is bring the guests and enjoy! At Farm Camp, your child will have the unique opportunity to experience the joys of life on the farm. From tending chickens and goats, to milking cows and harvesting vegetables, campers will learn the importance of sustainability and hard work. We also provide a wide variety of activities, including arts and crafts, swimming, hiking, outdoor sports, and campfires. We recognize the importance of unstructured time in developing creativity and problem solving skills, so campers have the freedom to choose from these activities and create their own schedule.

At Devil's Gulch Ranch, DGES Summer Day Camps provide an opportunity for children and their families to explore and engage in a variety of activities related to food production, from visiting the farm to shopping at a local farmer's market. Through these activities, children learn to appreciate nature and develop an understanding of the connection between food production and sustainability. Families also gain valuable insight into the importance of producing and consuming food in a sustainable manner.

Summer is the perfect time to get outdoors and have some fun- and what better way to do that than at Gilchrist Farm Summer Camp? Kids can unplug from technology and dive into the wonderful world of farm life.

At camp, kids can learn how to ride horses, or if they already know how, improve their riding skills. They'll get to meet all the animals, from cows and horses to sheep, goats, bunnies, and more! Not to mention there's plenty of traditional crafts to do, like soap and candle making. Plus, they can play in the mud, run, adventure, and explore the farm.

The best part? Everything at camp takes place outdoors. There's plenty of shade, misters, and all sorts of activities for the campers. From shearing sheep and milking goats, to petting cows and gathering eggs, kids will have a blast with all the different things they can do at the farm.

Hidden Villa is a 1600-acre educational nonprofit located in the foothills of the Santa Cruz mountains. We offer a variety of Experiential Education and Responsible Agriculture programs, in addition to offering visitors the chance to explore our organic farm and gardens, meet our farm animals, and hike our beautiful trails. The Luther Glen Farm Outdoor School is the perfect place for families, church groups, and school classes to connect to nature and each other. Programs are available for students in preschool through college, and cover several disciplines in the areas of natural, physical and social sciences. Classes are taught in a beautiful outdoor setting, allowing students to learn and grow together in community. With a focus on agricultural education, sustainability and community-building experiences, the Luther Glen Farm Outdoor School provides a unique opportunity for students to learn about the environment and themselves.
