Once upon a time, in the beautifully diverse state of California, stretching from the golden beaches to the snow-capped mountains, a group of young farmers was busy tending to their sun-kissed crops. Now these weren't just any ordinary kids, oh no! They were the members of the 'Funky Farmers Club', a group of children who could talk to vegetables and sing lullabies to the cows. Their ringleader was a spunky little girl named Carrot-Top Cali. With freckles as many as the stars and hair as red as a ripe tomato, she was as Californian as sunshine and avocados. She could make a grumpy onion laugh with her silly jokes, and whisper sweet compliments to the roses to make them bloom brighter. Every day, these young farmers, under the guidances of Carrot-Top Cali, would wake up with the rooster's crow, put on their hats as big as tractor wheels, and pull up their boots that squished like wet mud. They'd spend the day digging, planting, and playing hide-and-seek with the earthworms, all while learning the magic of life that sprouts from a tiny seed. Cali and her Funky Farmers Club filled their days with dirt-under-the-nails adventures and green-thumb discoveries. In the midst of the California sunshine, they were little heroes in overalls, nurturing the Earth one seed at a time. The story of their farming fun was as fresh as the morning dew and as sweet as the juicy apples they grew.

Nestled in 178 acres of lush woodland is a serene escape from the city, a place fondly known as Camp Swamp. This overnight Christian camp, located just two hours east of bustling Atlanta, has been serving as a peaceful retreat since 1992. We like to think of it as our own "little slice of heaven," offering a respite from the daily hustle and bustle, and inviting people to reconnect with nature and their spirituality. Our primary offering is a week-long summer camp, but we've expanded over the years to include more than just summer fun. As part of our mission to support families and churches, we now also host three family camps throughout the year, as well as four parent/child retreats. These events offer a chance for families to bond, parents to connect with their children, and individuals to grow in their faith. Moreover, our facilities are not exclusive to our organized events. Camp Swamp also offers rentals to schools, churches, universities, sports teams, and even business groups. Whether you're planning a camp, a retreat, or a team-building excursion, our serene setting and well-equipped facilities provide the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable experience.
The Los Angeles County 4-H Youth Development Program has been providing a unique and enriching camp experience since 1931! Campers ages 8 to 18 have the opportunity to make new friends, stay active with organized games and sports activities, explore the outdoors, create arts and crafts projects, and develop leadership skills. Over the years, campers have come from California, and all over the U.S., to take part in the week-long overnight camp program. The camp meets the highest standards set by both the California 4-H Youth Development Program and the American Camp Association. The camp staff is made up of senior 4-H members, adult volunteers, and 4-H UCANR staff, and the 4-H Summer Camp Committee is responsible for managing the program, ensuring ACA accreditation, and selecting the camp's most qualified leaders.
