Once upon a time, in the wild, wonderful state of West Virginia, a band of adventurous kids embarked on epic nature journeys. Their guide was a delightful and whimsical creature known as Whiskery Wally, a half-raccoon, half-owl who wore a pair of old hiking boots and a floppy fishing hat. He had a twinkling eye and a mischievous grin, and his funny stories of his escapades in the Appalachian Mountains always left the children rolling on the ground with laughter. The kids loved exploring the verdant forests, rolling hills, and crystal-clear streams of West Virginia. They splashed through the babbling brooks, clambered over the mossy rocks, and chased after butterflies in the open meadows. What made the whole adventure truly remarkable was that Wally would narrate an amusing tale related to every spot they visited. The kids, full of energy and curiosity, were always eager for more. They'd giggle as they untangled themselves from the ticklish tendrils of wild honeysuckle, or held their breath crossing the wobbly wooden bridges over the streams, inspired by Wally's stories of daring raccoon-owl escapades. Under Wally's guidance, the children discovered the magic of West Virginia's nature, from the whispers of the ancient trees to the secret messages written in the stars. They learned to love the sweet taste of wild blackberries and the soothing sound of the wind rustling through the leaves. Every day was a new adventure, a chance to explore, and a hilarious tale with Whiskery Wally. Now, these were no ordinary kids, they were the wild, wonderful West Virginia explorers, living their own endless, enchanting nature adventure.

For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Our mission is to use Christian camping and outdoor recreation as a means to support local churches in fulfilling the Great Commission—evangelizing people of all ages and discipling believers toward deeper maturity in Christ. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Whether through summer camps or retreats, our goal remains the same: to expose people to Christ and encourage their spiritual growth through His Word and by reflecting His character in everything we do. While we provide top-notch recreation and exciting programming, the heart of our camp is the spiritual impact, rooted in the truth of God’s inerrant Word.
