Once upon a time, in the colossal, adventurous state of Washington, a gang of extraordinary kids, not your average Joe's, participated in an amazing activity. They were not superheroes, astronauts, or magicians, but they wielded a power just as spectacular. They were the Reading Rascals of WA. In the land where the Pacific Ocean kisses the shore and Mount Rainier stands tall, these young heroes embraced the magical world of books. They were known throughout the enchanting apple orchards and bustling tech cities for their incredible ability to summon adventures by turning pages. Their leader, a hilariously wacky, yet lovable character called Whiskery Wordsmith, had a giant, magnificent beard that swirled in a tornado of letters. When he laughed (which was often), words tumbled out of his beard, forming sentences that told the most fascinating stories. He had a peculiar quirk, his sneezes would blast out new books, much to the delight of the Reading Rascals. Every day, under the gloomy, rainy skies, the Reading Rascals would huddle together, wrapped in cozy, colorful blankets, with cups of hot cocoa, and voyage into the magical universe of stories. With every page turned, they laughed at the silly tales, gasped at the thrilling adventures, and sighed at the beautiful poetry. Whether perched high up in the evergreen trees of the Olympic National Park or nestled in a corner at Pike Place Market, the Reading Rascals of WA championed the realm of words. Through every book, they discovered new worlds, met eccentric characters, and lived a thousand lives, all from their tiny, rainy haven in the vibrant state of Washington.

For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Our mission is to use Christian camping and outdoor recreation as a means to support local churches in fulfilling the Great Commission—evangelizing people of all ages and discipling believers toward deeper maturity in Christ. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Whether through summer camps or retreats, our goal remains the same: to expose people to Christ and encourage their spiritual growth through His Word and by reflecting His character in everything we do. While we provide top-notch recreation and exciting programming, the heart of our camp is the spiritual impact, rooted in the truth of God’s inerrant Word.
