In the fantastic, evergreen state of Washington, where the Pacific Ocean winks at Mount Rainier, a group of extraordinary children embark on tremendous hiking adventures. These young explorers, known as the "Evergreen Trekkers", are no ordinary kids, they possess a unique ability to sniff out trails like no one else. In a place where apples grow as big as basketballs and the rain sometimes sings, these kids are the ultimate outdoor superheroes. The leader of this merry band is a little girl named Sally Sock-Hopper. Now, don't be fooled by her name. Sally doesn't hop around in socks. No, sir! She got her name because every time she hikes, her socks magically change color, depending on the trail she's on. In the dense rainforest trails, they turn as green as pickle ice cream, and in the dry deserts of eastern Washington, they become as brown as chocolate milk. Her best friend is a boy named Benny "The Beeping" Beaker. Benny carries a beeping thermos that whistles old folk songs when the water inside boils, signalling that it's time for a hot chocolate break. The thermos, a gift from his quirky grandmother, also doubles as a compass, always guiding them back home. Together, they lead the Evergreen Trekkers on awe-inspiring journeys across Washington's varied landscapes, over mountains that touch the clouds, through enchanting old-growth forests, around serene lakes and even into the depths of mystic caves. No two hikes are ever the same, each one filled with laughter, occasional tumbles, and a generous helping of fun. They are a testament to the true spirit of Washington - adventurous, diverse, and never dull.
