In the far-off, magical land called Washington State, a place where mountains kiss the sky and forests whisper ancient secrets, there lies a courageous tribe of kids. Not your ordinary, video-game-playing, cereal-munching bunch, no sir! These children are the valiant warriors of Kobudo, an ancient martial art that means "old martial way". Think of these Kobudo kids as the "Ninja Turtles" of Washington State, except they don't live in sewers, they prefer apples to pizza, and their sensei isn't a rat, but a cool imaginary character named Sensei Squatch. Now, don't let the name fool you. Sensei Squatch isn't your run-of-the-mill sasquatch. He’s a nine-foot-tall, apple-loving, Kobudo master with a thick, bushy beard and a laugh that echoes throughout the majestic Cascade mountains. Every morning, as the sun lazily crawls over the horizon, Sensei Squatch’s booming voice summons the young warriors for training. These kids, armed with their bo staffs, sai, and nunchaku, may be small, but they are fierce. Their giggles often echoing off the trees as they practise, making the grumpy grizzlies grin and the bashful bobcats belly laugh. If you ever find yourself hiking through the luscious evergreen forests of Washington State and hear the rustle of leaves accompanied by the roar of laughter, you've probably stumbled upon the Kobudo kids. Watch them twirl their weapons, their faces lighting up with determination and pure joy, and you'll understand why Kobudo is more than just an activity. It's a magical dance between strength, character and loads of fun. The Kobudo kids of Washington State- small in size but brave and daring like no other!
