Once upon a time, in the amazingly green and beautifully mountainous state of Washington (WA), there were a bunch of high-spirited and bouncy kids who were extraordinarily fond of gymnastics. They were just as lively as Mount Rainier on a cloudy day and as energetic as the coffee shops in Seattle. Our story focuses on a bunch of cartwheeling, back-flipping, and generally somersaulting kids who are so agile and quick, they make the salmon of the Columbia River seem slow. They are led by their fearless leader, Flip Flop McTumble, an imaginary character known for his fantastic flips and his surprising sense of humor. Flip Flop McTumble wasn't your common imaginary friend, oh no! He was born from a trampoline's bounce, had muscles made of rubber bands, and a heart as big as the Space Needle. He could perform a triple backflip and land on a tightrope while juggling apples and making the best knock-knock jokes you've ever heard. He was the hero of the Washington gymnastics kids, encouraging them to reach for the stars (sometimes quite literally). Together, they would do more somersaults than there are apples in an orchard, swings that would put the breathtaking Ferris wheel at the Seattle waterfront to shame, and balances that would make the tall evergreens of the Olympic Peninsula look wobbly. Their laughter and cheer echoed throughout the state, making even the rain in WA seem bright and joyful. Under the leadership of the funny Flip Flop McTumble, gymnastics in Washington was never a chore, but an adventure of a lifetime.
