In the sprawling, rootin'-tootin' expanse of the Lone Star State, Texas, a peculiar bunch of curious cowpokes reside. They're not your regular ranch hands, wrangling cattle or riding the ranges; no sirree! These young'uns are Texas' very own "Melody Mavericks"! When the sun sets and the stars shine bright, they trade their cowboy boots for tap shoes, their lassos for saxophones, and their cowboy caps for conductor's batons! Our story follows Big Beaumont Billy, the tallest ten-year-old this side of the Rio Grande. Now, Billy wasn't just tall in stature; he was tall in talent too! He could strum a guitar faster than a jackrabbit on hot sand, tickle the ivories like a tumbleweed twirling in the wind, and belt out a tune that'd make even the coyotes howl with envy. Every evening, Billy and the Melody Mavericks would come together in their secret hideout - an old, abandoned barn twinkling with fairy lights – bringing the Texan night alive with the vibrant sounds of country, jazz, and sometimes even a bit of good ol' rock 'n' roll. Billy, with his cactus-shaped violin, would lead the musical rodeo. Tiny Tumbleweed Tommy on the drums, Dallas Dolly with her harmonica, and Laredo Lucy, the smallest of them all, with a voice so large, it could fill the Grand Canyon. Oh, the laughter and the music they'd make, echoing under the great Texan sky! Each melody spinning tales of brave cowboys, charming cowgirls, and the childlike magic of music. For in the heart of Texas, these Melody Mavericks found a way to lasso the moon with their music, making every night a symphony of stars.

Nestled in 178 acres of lush woodland is a serene escape from the city, a place fondly known as Camp Swamp. This overnight Christian camp, located just two hours east of bustling Atlanta, has been serving as a peaceful retreat since 1992. We like to think of it as our own "little slice of heaven," offering a respite from the daily hustle and bustle, and inviting people to reconnect with nature and their spirituality. Our primary offering is a week-long summer camp, but we've expanded over the years to include more than just summer fun. As part of our mission to support families and churches, we now also host three family camps throughout the year, as well as four parent/child retreats. These events offer a chance for families to bond, parents to connect with their children, and individuals to grow in their faith. Moreover, our facilities are not exclusive to our organized events. Camp Swamp also offers rentals to schools, churches, universities, sports teams, and even business groups. Whether you're planning a camp, a retreat, or a team-building excursion, our serene setting and well-equipped facilities provide the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable experience.
