In the tiniest state of the United States, Rhode Island, lies an army of mini Olympians, known as the "Runnin' Rhodies." These pint-sized speedsters might be little, but they can whip across a track faster than an overexcited squirrel chasing its tail. The Runnin' Rhodies aren't just known for their speed, but also for their enthusiasm, determination, and the sheer amount of energy they possess, which could easily power the whole state if they were all running on treadmills. Enter their coach, Mr. Galloping Gull, a towering fellow with a jolly laugh that sounds like seagulls squawking, a windswept hairdo reminiscent of a sand dune, and a fondness for wearing bright, neon running shoes. No one has ever seen him run, but the rumor among the kids is that he is so fast that you'd miss him if you blinked! The Runnin' Rhodies, under the guidance of Mr. Galloping Gull, train tirelessly on the track, jumping hurdles as if they were hopping over hot sand at the beach, and sprinting around the track, leaving a trail of dust. They can't help but giggle when Coach Gull shouts at them in his seagull-like voice, "Faster than a clam at high tide, you lot!" Rhode Island may be small, but the Runnin' Rhodies' dreams are as vast as the ocean that surrounds their state. They're a zippy, peppy, giggly gaggle of kids who prove that in Track and Field, it doesn't matter how big you are, but how big you run!
