Oregon, otherwise known as the Beaver State, is quite a magical place. It's a land where trees grow taller than giants and the waves of the Pacific Ocean dance to their own unique rhythm. It's a place where the misty mornings give way to sunny afternoons, and the stars twinkle so close at night, it feels like you could reach out and snag one for yourself. Now, in this enchanting state, there is a group of kids, as vibrant and unique as Oregon itself. They participate in a fascinating activity called Hapkido. You might think, "Hapkido? That sounds like something a kangaroo might say if it had a cold!" But no my dear friend, Hapkido is a cool form of Korean martial art that these kids practice with all their heart. They are led by Master Whiskers, a quirky, wise cat who mysteriously learned the art of Hapkido. With his fluffy tail standing erect like a flag pole, and his eyes sparkling with wisdom, you wouldn't be blamed if you mistook him for a wizard cat! Master Whiskers runs the Hapkido classes in an old barn, magically transformed into a dojo. The kids, referred to as the “Oregon Hapkido Heroes,” laugh, tumble, and learn in this enchanted setting. Sometimes, when performing a tricky move, Master Whiskers’ whiskers would wiggle with anticipation, which always sends the kids into fits of giggles! Despite the laughter, these kids take Hapkido seriously. They've learnt not just the art, but also the discipline, respect, and self-confidence that comes with it. Much like the beautiful state of Oregon, these kids are full of surprises, strength, and a ton of fun! So, next time you're in Oregon, be sure to look out for the barn with the giggles, the wisdom, and the Hapkido Heroes.
